Every team tanking and hoping for a star level player, is already hoping for ‘blind luck’.

Dont worry, we have the highest chance for our pick to move back to 8th, than getting the lottery. I've accepted the 8th pick in order not to feel anymore disappointed.

We're going to pick up a project in Maluach, because of the possible upside and hope he pans out.

This is basically scripted.

Next year’s salary cap numbers are basically set for the Raptors to pick 8th

Anything higher than 8th and they will need to make other moves to get below luxury tax

Im not arguing your point, just want to make an admission, I made a typo, meant to say top 4, not lottery.

If we drop to 8th, I’m looking forward to the spin that we should have competed for the play in because a team behind us jumped into the top 4, completely ignoring that if we had finished top 4 to begin with we’d still remain in a higher lottery position if we do get bumped down.

The draft and the lottery are based on luck! What better luck than to have the lucky number 7!

Glad the board had that little freakout two weeks ago.

I, personally loved the hand wringing over Chicago and Miami, teams that "weren't going to win another game all year", and "we were definitely finishing ahead of".

The race with those teams was close with us being a mere 7.5 games back of them.

Chicago threw in the towel when they traded LaVine and Caruso and committed to the tank. Nobody expected Giddey to play like Luka Doncic when he got to Chicago.

Didn’t we throw in the towel by trading for a guy whose played 0 minutes?
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

We traded two low-impact role players for him. We still had a much better team than Chicago on paper. We needed to do a lot of resting to stay behind them.

Realistically I think if we're somewhat healthier next season we can compete with any team except for maybe OKC. They are just built to be the next warriors of the regular season and yet to be seen how they do in playoffs but good indication they will have a good chance of winning it all.

I like my chances against any east team on any given night, even Boston to a certain level. Don't think there's a really scary team out there except for OKC at this point.

And to be clear I was agreeing with you that bobby has the books set to pick 8th.

Kinda interestingly the difference between picking 7th or lower (lottery balls drop) or 8th or worse are pretty close to 50:50, and we all know everything in life is 50:50. You'd have slightly worse odds predicting 8th or worse though.

I'm curious about the percentage chance of us picking 11th, it rounds off to 0.0% though.

Per Spotrac the books are actually set to pick 7th and still be under the tax, if they only run a 14-man roster and the 3 open spots (11 guys are already under contract for next season excluding 2-ways) are filled by our 1st round pick, and 2 rookie minimums (with 1 of them likely being the Portland SRP).

Scottie should remain out. He can still get his 65 without playing this one, and if he wants that finger as healthy as possible then uninterrupted rest is the best.

Please don't prove me wrong by being stupid, any side of this equation.

I mean we traded away the guys who contributed to our winning streak in Jan and sat the other guy.

We absolutely cannot and will not be competitive with Boston, Cleveland, New York, or Milwaukee.

We have nobody on the team even close to Tatum's impact. We also don't have anybody close to Michell's impact, or even Mobley's. We also don't have anyone close to Brunson's level or Giannis' level. You get the picture.

There is a huge talent gap at the top-end between us and them. The only way that gap gets closed is if we draft a superstar this year or one of our prospects (Scottie or JaKobe) becomes that player.

We'll be able to compete with Detroit and Orlando for that #6 seed. Maybe even the Bucks (although they'd handily beat us in the playoffs).

You do know competitive doesn’t mean better or the same. We have had plenty competitive games even with Boston this year in a tank. The team next year can definitely win 1 or 2 against any of those teams. Now I agree we definitely lose a 7 game series but he clearly said on any given night meaning any game in the 82 game regular season we could have competitive games with any of those teams you mentioned.
