Of course. If you think he's being paid 20-25 in an environment where tyler Herro and Clarkson as 6th men get 30 per, no. I'm really not sure why people have such a problem comprehending cap inflation. Maybe if it was always labelled as a percentage of the cap it would be easier.

For example, OG at 30 million is 22% of the cap next year (although he has one more year and the cap would be more and % less). To compare, that's 23 million in 2020 cap dollars which is only slightly more that what FVV signed for as a much less established player.

So if you think its some kind of gotcha moment that he gets 30-35, lol, no it really isn't.

Exactly. Replacing OG with Cam does not help our very real tax problem for next year. This team needs to address two areas - staying under the tax next year, and improving the roster, both next year and longer term. None of the proposals I've seen involving OG to Phoenix really achieve both objectives. I am confident OG (or Fred or Gary for that matter) will only be traded with that in mind.

It sucks for our guys that we are possibly sending out but we should be looking to move them to teams who have a lot of question marks going forward. PHX has a young core, competent management and a new owner. They could be good for a long time. They are an attractive destination for players as they just got rid of their biggest problem (Sarver). We should be trying to exploit inept franchises if we can.

If I'm the new owner of Phoenix, the last thing I'm doing is letting them sell picks and the future.

Mathurin for OG makes sense imo I think its the perfect rebuild move. Him and scottie are a nice fit. Plus the top 6 pick. Lots of flexibility going forward.

Still have Pascal, FVV and GTJ on top of that and paying both in the off-season is more realistic w Mathurin being on a rookie deal. Or you trade one, sign one and plan to free up cap space while potentially have 3 young studs (barnes, Mathurin and Top 6 pick) on your team.

He’s been a top-15 player in the NBA this year (by impact, anyway) and he’s 22.

Maybe he’s peaked, but I think he’s got a reasonable chance to keep improving and, ultimately, be good enough to be the best player on a championship team.

Their owner is anti-tank, prioritizes playoffs and being competitive each season, and had apparently made it clear last year was a 1 and done in terms of losing for the Pacers. They’ll make a win now move and their aspirations won’t be championship or bust.

It's reported that teams were only offering 2nds for Trent or a heavily protected first. This is why the Raptors are checking if they could make the best of OG's trade value.

He's a great player, no doubt. But he's not a player that can lead a team to a championship. He's not good enough. He can be an excellent #2 though.
