After watching all the Triano interview videos, I'm somewhat confident with him as our coach. The guy really sounds like he knows what he's talking about and actually knows basketball, unlike Mitchell and I really like his philosophy and the new direction he's taking this team.

No, give us Steve Jack.

We don't need a garbage chucker like Jackson on the Raptors.

Jackson can't shoot, he can't lead, he can't play defense, he makes to much money, and he is 30 years old.

The raptors don't need someone who is going to chuck all game long to try and get their own personal points on 39 percent FG shooting and a pathetic, disgusting, 28 percent from beyond the arc.

There's no way the Raptors play harder for a Canadian that never played NBA ball, compared to an NBA baller like Smitch.

They couldn't find anyone better than Triano?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

And I kept repeating that until I got hoarse. Luckily I was alone in the car.

When I got home and got out of the car, I did the Peewee Herman dance. You know, this one:

(Although it wasn't as elaborate and didn't involve any bike gangs or alcohol.)

Then I sang, "Hi, ho! The witch is dead, the witch is dead, the witch it dead! Hi, ho! The wicked witch is deeeeeaaaaaaaddddd!!!!"

Woot!

Hey, did ya hear? Smitch was fired!

Did this happen to you when you got back home and went into your kitchen?

 No. I'm glad I don't have a ceiling fan in my kitchen. :)

It a new day in Raptorland. I feel bad for Sam, but this was necessary.

Watching the late in the 3rd Q of the Denver game, when we're down 30+ points - first Martin cuts behind Bosh for a layup, next set, Nene does a thunder dunk right down the lane. Sam calls time out. There was a weird vibe on the Raps sideline. Kind of pathetic? sad? SMitch was standing there with the clipboard in his hand saying nothing, the players standing around not looking at him.

Also, SMitch's presser after the game, another strange one, Sam the most subdued I had ever seen him. Not calling his players out, not angry, he was looking pretty whipped.

I'm a bit pissed at myself for not seeing the signs that Sam knew the writing was on the wall.

Anybody see Raps TV when Leo was ripping on Sam. I just caught the end of it--something about Kaponno coming to the team and thinking Sam doesn't know sh*t about defence and how much more defensive minded Pat Riley is.

Any input on this?

Everyone knew it was comming except the media people. :-? Anyways I'm glad Jay gets a chance to coach the team, I was hoping he would for a LONG time. It's kinda sad that he won't be around next season though no matter how the team does. BC is going to get "his" coach...hope Jay stays in the league.

its too bad you got fired sam, but it had to happen, sorry buddy :P

our team isn't great but but with some sort of structure and gameplan we'd be a lot better than our record is now.

If Triano gets this team to finish the season on a good run and at least put up a good fight in the playoffs or get to the 2nd round you can bet your bottom dollar he will be back. BC and his father both think very highly of Triano. Highly enough for Jerry Colangelo to put him on Team USA. BC is in a no lose situation. The rest of this season is Triano's audition on whether he can handle being a head coach. That may be why BC waited until know to can Sam (relatively early in the season) instead of last summer because he could slap the interim tag on Triano and see how it plays out this year and there's enough games left this season to guage whether Triano can do it.

Triano has got a pretty talented team with no pressure so if he can't perform with this group then he's not cut out to be a head coach. If he does better than expected he becomes permanent at a relatively cheap price for BC and if he does poorly then next summer BC finds someone else as he expected.

I put a new thread about Sam getting fired on a couple Eastern conference boards just to see if people cared.

Some people got pretty mad and others did not care, but as Death Knight saw, the Fan 590 link was a little too Toronto-centric for some. Ah well, I just wanted to say that I broke some story in New York. lol.

Even if Eric Smith did it and I just copied it and posted it on a message board and I am not a journalist.

Just was very curious to see what interest Toronto garnered state side.

Knicks fan know bball though, that much is for sure.

"As of last week, I believe, we were 29th in the league in fast-break points. That was concerning to all of us," said Colangelo last night. "There was talk about running, but it's something that I'm not sure we ever really thought about or practised or discussed to the extent it appeared on the floor with any kind of habit."

How many of us here were pretty much banging our heads against the wall noticing this and trying to point it out? Good to see Colangelo sees the same things as some of us.

Never. Ever!

It's one of the few things Sam Mitchell ever said that still makes fans smile. We have whole comic strips about it! It's now a part of Raptors history.

Easy for you to say, your team has Stan Van Gundy as its coach.

Sorry, I'm just bitter. He'd be amazing on the Raps right now.
