Re: TWO: Tank World Order
We're going to be fine brothers - we lost to a depleted Chicago team that's good enough for 9th IMO, and the MCW-less sixers who were projected to win something like 12 games
We're still strong! We still have Casey and Masai - i'm a believer!! We can do this! It starts again against Charlotte

Hopefully with minor injuries to a few of them, nothing serious would be helpful for TWO.

We have lost this minor battle but the war is ours. Masai has just begun. He's going to ruthlessly secure the tank and our future, while simultaneously making his tank team as entertaining as a tank team can possibly be.

The HOTH?
Dead quiet since they’re rolling so well and I get the joking about them losing by winning but I still totally don’t get people who think – if they were terrible – that it’s somehow easy to get bad enough to make it worth everyone’s while.
And here’s an aside to the “deal this guy or that guy for draft picks” people out there, and there seem to be many.
Do you for one second think any team that seems assured of a lottery pick is going to trade it? Or that teams with multiple picks are going to move one? Give your heads a shake.
And if you think tearing this down over the next 18 months and compiling picks in, say, 2017 or 2018 or 2019, is a guarantee that things will turn for the better three or four years from now, you’re living in some fantasy world.
End o’ continuous rant.

How to pull off a successful one year rebuild
At this moment it's unclear what the direction of the team is or what it should be. What's indisputable is the fact that this draft class is very talented ... not only does it contain a once in a lifetime Canadian talent but it's so deep that if you miss out on him you can still land a potential game changing player picking anywhere from 2-6. If you're ever going to tank THIS is the year ... especially since the fans are willing to tolerate losing for a chance at Wiggins.
With that said, this team is not designed to tank in its current state. It's too talented of a roster in a very weak Eastern conference so the only logical solution is to blow it up. The question is, how do you effectively blow up a somewhat talented team without setting yourself back several years? I don't think this fan base can tolerate much more losing after this season especially if we don't land Wiggins so while everyone is on the tank bandwagon right now things could change for the worse next year.
So, what do you do? Well, as a GM Masai needs to find a way to maintain value while helping this team lose and I think that's exactly what he's doing. He's trying to build assets by moving players that are currently contributing to our success but he's not just willing to give them away for free. What that suggests to me is that he's probably not looking at a traditional multi-year rebuild through the tank. If the team manages to get picks and/or valuable young guys for the likes of Lowry, AJ or even DD then those assets can be packaged in the future for potential star veterans. This will give Masai the flexibility to actually turn the ship around quickly instead of dooming the team to several years of bottom dwelling.
At least that's one option and it seems to align with ownership and the fanbase. MLSE has never been patient with its teams and I can't imagine that this company would greenlight a rebuild from scratch that could take multiple years. Losing for Wiggins is one thing but I doubt we'll intentionally lose much beyond this year. I'd be willing to bet that the plan right now is to try to blow it up and pile up losses this year while obtaining other assets than can be packaged next season for a third guy to combine with our draft pick and JV.

I should add that by "one year rebuild" I don't mean we'll be chasing a ring next year. I just think that if we're able to successfully move our existing assets then we could potentially grab the three or four major pieces of our core by end of the offseason

Re: How to pull off a successful one year rebuild
If they select an all-star level talent in the draft, if Val develops into a top C, if DD can maintain his current level of play, a 1 year rebuild may be possible.
But lots of ifs.
But lots of ifs.

We have a better chance at finishing 4th, winning our first round matchup and then facing IND with a chance to face MIA in the ECF than finishing with the worst record in the NBA.
IMO.
IMO.

This thread is useless other than for the bandwagon tankers hopping on and off every few games. We should just use it for new gifs and stuff.
I think we know who has been committed to getting better through a win in the draft all along. Its about 30-40% of the board. Then you get a bunch of wishy washy floaters, and the hardcore optimists that supported BC til the end and thought we were always one move away.

I have decided to leave. These 2 wins against horrid teams, in one of the worst conferences of all time, to push us to 9-13 are stimulating my brain to levels previously unimagined. Sorry brah.
