TOR trades P. Siakam (33M)

DEN trades Bones Hyland (I'm high on him), W. Barton, Monte Morris, Zeke Nnaji + 2x SRP 2022 + FRP unpr. 2024

Hyland is a gem, Barton provides needed shooting, vet presence and experience, his contract runs out 2023, so if he leaves, that free's up some cap space. Morris just here as a Salary filler and a better back up than Flynn, basically the CoJo Role he takes. Zeke Nnaji is an interesting player. I don't mind taking a "step back" next season, for development.

Hyland/VanVleet/Morris
VanVleet/Trent (move him)
OG/Barton/Barnes
Barnes/Young/Nnaji
Achiuwa/Birch

AD's health and availability would be the major concern here. Also, he's not suited to be the alpha either and is close to 30.

AD would make us worse in the regular season due to missed games but should improve our odds in playoffs if he ends up being the top 10 player that he can be.

Conversely, Lakers should be better in the regular season and actually make the playoffs lol, but may not go very far depending on how good Lebron is playing (Pascal/Fred as #1 won't cut it).

I don't think it'll happen but interesting to think about. Personally, I would rather target younger players closer to Barnes' timeline.

SGA would be great, but would need him to ask out and probably a third team because don't see why they'd want Fred/Pascal.

No chance we get Herb Jones for a slower Alvarado.

I’d love that though. Lol

The only realistic trade I’d be open to do for pascal would be to get Portland’s pick and get sharpe

Something like pick + Bledsoe + Hart

Otherwise not interested in getting a bunch of mediocre assets packaged together

Can’t see Portland moving Simons even if it’s a bad fit with Dame. They moved Gary and CJ already so I doubt they’ll move Simons now

they are trying to compete, siakam is clearly better than simmons and fits better with dame. im not sure why u think they wouldnt, i mean maybe they wont for whatever reason but its not out of the relm of possibility

Scottie4Bro wrote:If I'm thinking of building the team for next season, I'd make it simple: build the 2022/23 season around Barnes and Siakam duo. Both have enough playmaking between them for the starting line-up. The next steps are more simple, then.

Let's look at our current holes:

1.) We have a real need for an actual C. Preferably, one that can also shoot and space the floor for Siakam & Barnes.
2.) Our backcourt needs to be both bigger and more athletic. Trent may have the size at his position but neither Trent or Fred are athletic players, and you see that reflected in their respective games.

We have 3 assets to work with:
1.) Our draft pick.
2.) Our MLE, which projects to be quite generous this year.
3.) Trade assets of Fred, Trent, & OG. All 3 can individually garner hefty amounts of interest.

With that, you see what you can get to fix our 2 glaring holes. I would look to shore up the C spot and then see about acquiring the cheapest available backcourt duo that are atheltic, great defenders, and can shoot very well. Exploring options that fit that demand wouldn't be easy but would be worth it.

I'm thinking of it this way too.

My guess is we sign a 1-2 year MLE deal and then that contract and Birch can be moved at the deadline with a first rounder for the athletic guard type, like the Celtics trading a similar package (swap and a late first) for Derrick White, or for a fringe starting center.

Then the #33 pick hopefully yields us either a center (haven't seen the international players but there are a few who seem promising) or an athletic guard like we fix Trevor Keels' flat shot and he gets a bit quicker by dropping weight.

When you look at NBA players by weight, it's tough to find promising guys who are at least 6'11, 230, so my guess right now would be we draft a big and try to trade for a guard.

I think a trade with Utah might work.
Siakam/GTJ for Mitchell/Conley

Utah does it for chemistry reasons and GTJ has enough scoring punch to replace Mitchell. We get an elite scorer that is a known playoff performer and we get someone to take minutes off FVV.

Our starting lineup next year would be

Achiuwa/OG/Barnes/Mitchell/FVV

I long for the day that we have a pg who can break the defense down.

I'm getting mad thinking about how the Dragic deal didn't bring us back Spencer Dinwiddie or another 25 minute combo guard or center (tougher to imagine this one).

You guys don't have much to interest us as it relates to Ayton besides Scottie(+). Sorry boys.

lol. Enjoy the last couple of weeks of being a relevant ball team. With Booker out, Suns are getting the boot sooner than later. And with Paul getting up in age, they are a play in team as soon as next year.
