Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread

I've said it before but I truly think Siakam has already been tampered with from Philly and will sign there in the offseason for the max. He is going to finish the season and head there with us getting nothing back.

If that's true, in that case is there any benefit to a sign and trade, for either side? I never see sign and trade mentioned re Pascal, but it happens with Kyle, not Fred.

Only benefit is to Siakam who could get an important 5th year on the deal but it would weaken the team he's going to since they'd have to give up assets.

Miami was in the position to sign Lowry outright but they picked up Dragic's player option since there was tampering between the two teams. The sign and trade allowed Miami to use their MLE on Tucker and Oladipo I believe.

I get it from his side before the trade because he was playing well for his standards and probably felt like he was getting blamed for the rest of the team sucking, similar to Fred last year. All that just so Trent could start who was playing like utter crap all year.

I truly hope he still doesn't feel that way because he is one of the best backup PGs in the league and would be great to keep. I truly can't think of any decent team he can actually start for.

Haliburton just got carried off the court after a suspected knee injury. I'd say the Pacers are no longer in the hunt.

I think it'll only be 4-6 week injury....if it was season-ending then I would agree they would be out of the Siakam conversation.

The way he was in pain and needed to be carried off i'd expect it to be grade 3 and season ending. Even grade 2 is 8 weeks and likely would end Pacers playoff hopes, thus making them stand up or sell.

I am obviously not in the know, but if all this stuff about Siakim and/or his agent saying that they don't want to re-sign anywhere but Toronto is true, I would call his bluff. I would wait until the off-season to see what he would re-sign with us for. I would offer $30M for 2 seasons or 2 seasons plus a team option.

Lol waiting until the players an unrestricted FA aint the time to call bluffs and play games. Would be an alltime blunder.

We all knew the offseason was the time to trade him and now theyre screwed.

if a team with his bird's rights offers him the max contract with 5th year, he's NOT turning it down. he needs it. siakam is about the money at the end of the day. he's not the level of player that can turn that down

Ideally, for siakam, his birds rights would get traded to the exact team of his choosing and be would sign to that team for the max possible. let's say that team is something like Dallas - a team that can't really offer Raps much of what we need and can be outbid by teams like IND and ATL. well then siakam can try and get there by outright BLUFFING and telling other teams he won't sign their 5-year max contract offer and hope to devalue offers from the raps to the point where Dallas' offer could compete....and best case for him, the raps end up sending him there with his birds rights for that big contract he needs

but it's very possible both the Raps and another team call that BLUFF and make a deal regardless, knowing he's not turning the additional $$$ down that the team with his birds rights can offer

No ones offering pascal 5 years to resign him. Those 5 year deals aren't offered to 30 year olds unless they're steph curry level. Bradley Beal was given a 5 yr max at age 29 and everyone saw how that turned out. They had to trade him for pennies cause that contract was so toxic.

He doesn't wanna control where he goes, he wants to remain a Raptor, if the Raptors don't want him then he's gonna go to FA. Why would anyone sign where they don't wanna be?

Or that he wants to get that extra year and higher raises! He can get that through the Raps only and then he can ask for a trade a year after. He gets his big payday and his team. Meanwhile the Raps will end up with Alonzo Mourning, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and no draft picks

I already said it... this is gonna be a Bosh to Miami situation where he has already agreed to sign with Philly this offseason. Whether it's the 4 year max or a 5 year sign and trade will be based on what the Raptors demand back from Philly.
