while he is an ass and doesnt know **** about basketball, his sources are usually pretty good

that would good for the raps cap situation if it is Joey

Why do people keep on cuss out Bobcat and his basketball knowledge? He might not be the most familiar with the current NBA but the guy knows ball.

You are right, he does have his sources.

Should we assume that Baston will also be sent to the Pacers..and that we will get the 41st pick tonight

would BC backtrack and kill the trade?

You try pulling that stuff in some other line of work and you end up in the back of a trunk. Since it's just the NBA, if BC ever did that, no GM will ever deal with Toronto as long has he's GM.

Is playing 69 games really that bad? Should it be included in the list of damning numbers?

People here have shown that players CAN come back after years of being injury plagued, but I still think that a guy who averaged 51-52 games per season over the last four season is highly unlikely to play too many more than that this season.

And the fact that his knee feels okay is very little assurance, as JO is simply a guy that gets hurt a lot. Knee, shoulder, colds... I think we'll be lucky if he plays in 1 out of every 4 games next year. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

O'Neal speaks briefly on trade (provided by Si.com)

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/basketball/nba/specials/draft/2008/06/26/pacers.raptors.trade.ap/index.html

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indiana Pacers are trading six-time All-Star forward Jermaine O'Neal to the Toronto Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic, the 17th pick in the draft and a player to be determined.

O'Neal confirmed the trade Thursday, saying he was pleased with the move by team president Larry Bird.

"He wanted to get me to a place where I could contend and do what I'm capable of doing," O'Neal told The Associated Press. "We both agreed that the timing was perfect. His focus on getting them [the Pacers] to a level where they can grow and start to be competitive was tremendous."

Pacers spokesman David Benner said he could not confirm the trade.

"We're stuck in our role here, the players can say whatever they want, we can't say anything," Benner said.

Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo told The Canadian Press on Wednesday that he was in the midst of "four or five" conversations with teams involving Ford and a combination of Toronto's No. 17 pick and/or other Raptors players leading up to Thursday night's draft.

Jermaine said he wants to retire a Pacer, wouldn't that be funny if he left when his contract is up and came back to us.

For those Bob McCowan detractors out there, he summed the impact of this trade pretty accuratley in my opinion. If you remove TJ, Rasho & Joey Graham from our team, how many more games do we lose? 3? 6? Not a significant loss, or one that we haven't had to deal with in the past. Now add Jermaine O''Neal.

I think this move is a big time improvement.

Would you not trade for DWade, has only played 50 games the last 2 seasons, and in his 5 seasons in the nba so far, he has missed a 1/3 of the season in 3 of them.

I'm sure most of us could probably live with that.

Well, it's hard to say I wouldn't trade for him without knowing who I'd have to give up... But I wouldn't give up what Miami would want.
