Dude's a highlight dunk/block waiting to happen... he can be a defensive force.

I agree, I'd rather have him than Gasol (who I think is going to get overpaid). He's already a good rebounder/shotblocker, and has the potential to really excel defensively (he has a solid 104 DRtg right now), and is just 22 so there's still lot's of room to improve. I don't mind overpaying for a guy with great defensive potential. Wtih Bargs/DeMar looking like solid scoring options, we don't need scoring output from a C--what we really need is an interior presence, hustle, rebounding, shotblocking, and post defense. He converts at an extremely efficient rate as well (mostly off dunks), so it's not like he's a liability on offense. He'd fit in well with any of Bargs/Ed/Amir imo.

Raps Trade:

Bargnani, Weems, Alabi

Wizards Trade:

McGee, Young, Al Thornton and Cartier Martin (Filler)

Salaries are off by about $50k but with a little tweaking it could work.

Centre who can rebound in McGee (who can fly with the best of em), legit SG in Young, Thornton would be a great 6th man off the bench and it could let DD play more at the 3 spot.

Then hopefully deal Kleiza and Pylonerone and we can be back in the play-offs!

Bargs could be #2 or #3 option on Wiz with John Wall and Shard.

I unno what we could do to get Thad Young from Philly but he's the player I really want over here at SF spot going fwd. I think he'll do everything we need. He can score, rebound, and defend. He goes to work when he gets the playing time. They are just so confused over there on the wings in philly.

I hope I don't get flamed for this but how about

Barbosa + Ed Davis + miami pick

for Thad Young + M.speights + Songila

We get Thad Young to play SF & replace our young stud with a young player with some upside still. Ino Speights might be Amir 2.0 but he's a lil taller & is only on da books for 1 yr after. We also get rid of barbosa salary for expirings. It puts us in a position to field offers on draft day if we end up outta the kyrie irving running. We could move down pick up some talent & still take a pg like walker/knight/selby at a lower pick.

I like Ed's upside as a defensive player (first defensive big since like Antonio Davis?)

I don't move him but help him develop a decent jumper and turn him in Little Baby Davis?

How about we all be patient and overpay for Thad young in the off-season at 9-10 million and Philly CAN'T match without going into tax. This way we give up nothing and keep Ed

Unless they want Barbosa + Klezia + Miami pick for Noc + Thad. I'd wait till the off-season

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Reggie Evans for Jared Jeffries and a second round pick or maye be first round

This will save around 3 million for Houston both of players are expires. Toronto will get a pick

What about Barbosa to OKC for Peterson and right to swap picks (OKC-Miami). Peterson is an expiring.

I don't know about 10 mil, but I'd def throw 8 mil at Thad. He's a guy I would want on the team or Wilson Chandler.

I'd rather take my chances with Perry or Terrence Jones in the draft. It's hard to get excited about throwing money at guys like Wilson Chandler or Thad Young.

PHX/Nash TRade Proposal

Post#713 » by JohnVancouver » Wed Jan 26, 2011 5:59 pm

From a response to a Valley of the Suns column on what teams might offer what deals for Steve - this one seemed a little too much of a "cow/magic beans" deal for reality
What do the raps board members think. As a Vancouverite I'd love to see him finish his career at home if the Suns really do deal him.

"This is the deal they should be looking at: Toronto. Why? Because he is more valuable to Toronto than any other franchise. Toronto would give up their TPE of $12.5mm, two 1st Round picks (one of which is currently be Top 5), Bayless (played at Arizona), Weems, and one of Derozan and/or Ed Davis. Toronto could also take on the salary of Childress, but would likely ask for Grant Hill as well (Toronto could still make the Playoffs with a trade like this). What else? Such a trade would have to be broken into multiple deals, because of the TPE, and i can see a way something like this could be done in 4 separate transactions. What does that mean? It could mean up to $12mm in cash from Toronto to PHX ($3mm in each transaction). The TPE and Cash, along with draft picks, a young PG and one of Toronto's best young players (DD or Davis) would be a steal and kick start the rebuilding with a solid base. For Toronto? They will sell a zillion tickets and jersey's and continue to be a middling team in the EAST. But they will make lots of money."

The only thing I can see that supports such a trade is, yes, the franchise would make money with Steve in Raps uni.

We move two first rounders without protections; and Bayless, and DeRozan, we also have to take on Childress' salary for Nash?

This is nearly the same sort of science fiction that called for a Rondo/Bash swap.

Speaking of PG's....The Stephen Curry is rumored to be on the block along with Ellis for the right deal.

Would we be interested in a deal around him and our 1st rounder? Maybe even adding our MIA 1st?

S.Curry ($2,913,840) (rookie scale for 3 more years)
D.Wright ($3,540,000) (2 more years)
A.Biedrins ($9,000,000) (2 more years, 3rd year is ETO)

for

R.Evans ($5,080,000) (expiring)
J.Calderon ($9,000,000) (2 more years)
TOR 1st Round Pick (unprotected)
MIA 1st Round Pick (unprotected) ???

Lineup:

Curry/Bayless
DeRozen/Weems (Resigned)
D.Wright/Klezia
Davis/Johnson
Bargs/Biedrins

Thoughts?

Would GSW do it as well? Does the MIA pick need to be included?

EDIT - Put Davis in the lineup...wrote Evans by mistake.
