That would be disappointing.
Tristan Thompson 8.1ppg 6.3rpg per 23.5min.

It's hard to say. It depends on how he gets those statistics. If a big man can stay on the court for 25 minutes, with decent defence, 8-9 points is maybe too low. We have guys like Ed Davis who can't make many jump shots and make only half their free throws. Ed is averaging 6.1 points and 6.5 rebounds in 22 minutes. Offensively, Jonas has much more skill and better free throw shooting than Ed, so getting to 9-10 points per game should be within his potential as a rookie. While he plays, Ed averages five free throw attempts per game and makes only about half of them, so that's another 1.5 points per game right there for an 80 percent free throw shooter. Jonas also has more potential to get to the free throw line.
My thought is that Jonas can play 25-30 minutes if he can stay out of early foul trouble most night, and average 11-12 points per game. On rebounds, based on his European production, I'd say 7 rebounds per game is reasonable. So 12 points per game, 7 rebounds per game, would be good rookie production for him. Anything better will drive the yokels here crazy. He will be annointed Saviour if he reaches 14/8.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that he puts up 14/8. After having a great development year with his club team, Jonas will be playing for his national team. They'll most likely will qualify for the Olympics and getting that experience will give Jonas more confidence. We've seen in the past how a lot of players come out like gang busters after international competition over the summer. The same could happen to Jonas you never know.

Tristan is shooting 44% from the field. Imo Jonas should be scoring in double digits mainly because he's so damn efficient around the basket and the free throw line

Re: Jonas Valanciunas 11/12 Season Thread III
Something that could help Jonas adapt more quickly is the number of games played. Rytas, with all the leagues it's in and all the playoffs it's part of now, should hit the 80-game mark with Jonas. (They begin play before he rejoined them from the National Team in September). This doesn't conclude the games he played either last summer with the NT or will play next summer with the NT. So he basically plays 90 games a season, while a college player is lucky to play 40, including post-season tournaments. College players also don't play back to backs, but Jonas showed today what he can do in the second game of a back to back playoff series, and will play back-to-back and sometimes back-to-back-to-back in international tournaments like the Olympics or Eurobasket.

Same. Jonas V has a legit shot at Rookie of the Year and I can see All-star in year 3 or 4

Unbelievably excited for this kid man. He has all the physical tools and a great touch around the rim to become dominant. His great FT % is so nice to see for a big man and will be so key when he starts getting hacked a lot.
Please let him be the answer.

That's a good article, though to state the obvious it's still too early to count either of these guys or Jonas in. But I think if the draft is redone Kahn takes Valanciunas #2, considering their needs and how the consensus right now seems to be JVal goes #2 among last year's guys, and Kahn has picked on the consensus order almost every year
The thing I'd correct in that article is he clearly hasn't paid attention to is Klaysanity. He's at nearly 20ppg per 36 post all-star break and is basically thriving as the Warriors tank #1 option. In particular his last 5 games are 24, 24, 29, 17, 26. Klay's rookie season is a slightly poor man version of Stephen Curry's, who looked shaky early on and then went off at an all-star level post ASB. If Klay is a 20ppg guy it's going to be a cold hard slap to the face of the Wolves, considering he's the factory made perfect fit for Rubio. I think Williams is Marcus Fizer 2.0.

Warriors also got Jeremy Tyler who could become a decent center. 2011 draft should pan out better than people expected

Before the draft, and before eventually taking Jonas, I was praying we could acquire another pick to take a chance on him. Think he's going to be solid.

I always liked Derrick Williams, still do. But yeah, he does not look all that good. Still, I would not say Jonas will be better than D-Will for sure.
Klay is what he is. Not really impressed. He will score a lot, good off ball player, but nothing fancy about him.
I think everyone was intrigued about Jeremy Tyler. But damn, he was a back up in Israel and Japan...

I was surprised how he felt to mid second I though some team will grab him as late first just from his potential

Re: Jonas Valanciunas 11/12 Season Thread III
I really think if a team just took the perspective of take the most talented player, they'd do as well as anyone. It wouldn't be infallible but I'm guessing that's what the odds would favor, both at the top and bottom of the draft. Tyler going that low would've never happened from that perspective. I mean Nolan Smith went 21 and Jajaun Johnson 27 and Shelvin Mack 34 (to Washington mind you, probably a solid move for them to pass on Tyler if any). In the past stuff like Johnson over Cousins, Sheldon and Foye over Gay would've been unthinkable if just judging on talent
Though judging talent is a tricky thing that I think a lot of teams get wrong. Seems like a lot just look at athletic tools, especially for bigs. I buy instincts/basketball IQ and certain exemplary aptitudes for skills as talents. So while some would say Drummond is an amazing talent, I'd say he severely lacks offensive talent and thus I would call him the most overrated talent in the draft. I would call Jared Sullinger a more talented player than Drummond personally.
