Thoughts on the Cavs game last night.

-keep in mind the Cavs are also figuring out a new offense, and work can still be done.

-Lebron took some uncharacteristically bad shots, including a fadeaway with two defenders marking him.

-Waiters in one possession, held the ball a few seconds too long, which results in a live ball turnover and proceeds to foul at the three point line.

- Irving and Lebron still needs to figure out how to cooexist, because it looks like two different offense plus Waiters.

-is Blatt's offense timed around the one two? I noticed Lebron using the one two all game instead of the hop.

Between now and December 19, the Thunder have 7 Nationally televised games:

NBATV - 2 - vs Hou, vs GS
ESPN - 3 - vs Mem, @Sac, @LAL
TNT - 2 - vs Cle, @GS

If KD and Westbrook are out until December 19, do you think NBATV/ESPN/TNT will keep those games as is?

Watching the game and boxscore, that bench is atrocious. Tristan Thompson, Matt Dellavedova, old Shawn Marion and old Mike Miller is just plain bad. While the starting 5 is better than Lebron's Miami teams...Miami's bench is superior to the Cavs. I think Dion Waiters is going to eventually come off the bench.

Should Lou Williams, Greivis Vasquez, James Johnson, Pat Patterson and Tyler Hansborough be afraid of Cleveland's bench?

I think they have to. I remember when the Heat back in the day were one of the hottest teams in the league, just as popular as the Lakers, and a lot of their games were nationally televised. And then during the 07-08 year they put on one of the most blatant tanking jobs ever, just a notch above the Sixers, by signing D-Leaguers to 10 day contracts left and right. All their games were still nationally televised despite this, iirc.

Princeton offense is not going to get the best out of Lebron. The sooner the Cavs realize this the better. When you have the best player in the game, you don't take the ball out of his hands. You need to maximize his touches, and have Irving/Love get second in line. Heat got much better in yr2/3/4 when there was no longer question on who's team the Heat were.

The other worrying sign for the Cavs is their bench. More specifically Blatts usage of it. In 1st game of season he played his big 3 (Lebron/Irving/Love) 43/43/38 minutes respectively. The Cavs were outscored by D-League bench by 41-12. If you have championship aspirations you need to have key contributors of the bench. If this is sign of things to come Cavs are long way off being contenders.

Been saying it since the get go, Cavs are not even close to contenders. Their starting 5 is great but it's nothing after that. Plus their starting 5 has built in redundancy in that your three stars need the ball in their hands (perhaps Kevin Love the least so) . Trade Irving for depth, that's my take.

We'll see how much better they look in the coming weeks.

The Cavs were an elite team with Lebron and freaking Mo Williams. The Cavs may not win it this year, but they're in the contender conversation, unquestionably.

It's only one game. Their biggest problem was chemistry. LeBron was rusty/emotional and other guys like Kyrie and Love were being too unselfish. I think moving Waiters to the bench would help.

Looking forward to Bulls Cavs. It will be fun no matter who wins.

Cavs overpassed way too much. They had good a flow to their offense with all the motion, but once the ball got into the post it just stagnated with no weakside action to occupy the helpside D. It didn't help that LeBron uncharacteristically missed a ton of open looks either. Most of their problem solving needs to be on defense not offense.

What Coach Blatt is doing is effective I think. Letting LeBron dominate the ball doing all the decision making isn't best for the entire team while everyone else simply plays off of him. With the plethora of ballhandlers the Cavs have it's better for them to move the ball around with DHO and exchange on the weakside in the Princeton offense giving everyone an opportunity to make their own decision and attack off the dribble when they see a viable crease open up. Defenses aren't going to be able to keep up with that movement and they can't give their man a cushion since a quick swing action can lead to a deadly, explosive drive to the rim by Kyrie or Waiters versus when LeBron is dominating the ball and everyone just watches him and reacting. Even Love can take his man off the bounce too when his man is in mid-rotation closing out.

Love needs to realize he's not nearly as good a 3-point shooter as he thinks he is. He should only be shooting from the corners.

Kyrie has also developed horrible habits being the only good player on a terrible team.
