Right now it seems like he's content letting the offense flow and taking what he can get. Just wait until he learns how to use his body more forcefully and learns how to get to his spots. Scary stuff if it all comes together for him.

He won't ever be an elite scorer but he could potentially be a good scorer but with great all around game and dpoy potential

If he masters that foul line jumper, why can't he be like Karl Malone and Stockton in 1 player? :D

i'm such an idiot for not seeing it before. blinded by the suggs hype smh.

but watching it all now here in that first game, it hit me that he's just a good hooper. old-school game. he has the fundamentals down, rebounds well, makes proper use of his size advantage, solid passing and dribbling nothing fancy, making the right reads/defensive intensity/good intangibles and leadership. but put all of that in a guy his size with his wingspan?

you plop him down in the game 30/40 years ago right now as he is right now and he's dominating. but if there's more growth to his game, we got something special.

I think Barnes will start in place of Siakam, at least to start the year until Siakam returns.

Raps have a history of starting raw rookies, they did it already with Siakam and OG.

from his own mouth: he wants to be like Ben Simmons (and Draymond Green) . I am going to like Scottie very much

I like what the one guy said - maybe it's not the best pick for them because they really needed Suggs. But Barnes will be a good player.

GM's that draft for need don't keep their jobs for very long.

Silly comment. Masai could have drafted Suggs and been in zero danger of losing his job.

True. Instead he drafted the better long term player.

Barnes on this current Magic team (without Suggs) would be an absolute tragedy. Masai saved his butt big time as he’s gonna develop properly under our organization.

Ben Simmons is an elite defender and passer. I don't think Barnes said anything about not wanting to shoot. He showed the exact opposite in his first pro game.

If you don't understand the importance of the positives Barnes is taking from those two, you probably should just wait till this team trades for a top 3 player in the league or something.

The goal is to win the championship not to make "safe" picks. And it remains to be seen whether or not Suggs was even the safer pick.

Masai won the championship two years ago and was perhaps the most sought after executive in the league. Don't think he's worried about losing his job.

It's only been a single summer league game (yes I understand "we talking bout Summer League" lol) but he's already showing us more flashes offensively than what we see from his common comparisons ie/ Simmons & Draymond...I mean yes we seen the flashes of the passing ability and defense BUT...

Remind me of the last time either of Ben or Draymond did the following in a single game at anytime, SL or otherwise:

- faked a pass to take a pull up mid range jumper
- showed some post footwork getting his man off his feet then scoring
- trailing the play pull up 3
- back door cut to lay in
- a floater in the lane

Scottie just did that in his first game...he's raw, yes but his offensive upside imo is MUCH better than those 2.

You treat like Dray is some sort of mediocre player

He put up 12-14-3-3 in his first SL. Hopefully Barnes keeps shooting it and make plays on both ends

idk what happened to Green. He was never great shooter but he was much better. Some space jam ****.

I feel when someone can't shoot or forgets how to shoot its all mental. shooting next to guys like Curry and Klay, durant, probably makes you feel like you suck lol

That was under Casey. Nurse is a different story, he keeps his rookies on very tight leashes. One hiccup and they're glued to the bench for the next 5 games.

Lets hope Barnes is the new McCaw for him, in that he gets unlimited minutes and has full reign.

Nah Simmons was a monster in his summer league days. He was knocking down mid range jumpers with ease. Fadeaways and all that. I was blown away by him and was convinced he'd be a superstar. I still think he has the potential but kind of losing hope now.
