Suggs is such a weird player. He is "almost good" at everything. He is an almost good defender, scorer, facilitator, shooter...etc. Despite this I'd totally be down for this. Worst case scenario he is a strong defensive guard with some penetration ability. Best case he eventually becomes Derek White. If the picks are decent (even if they are somewhat protected) that's a yes.

Frankly, I'd rather their starting point guard (Fultz), but that ship has probably passed.

I'd gladly take the risk on suggs if he's available but I doubt he is

not a fan of Suggs, but if a deal includes the CHI 2023 pick or a future ORL first, sure why not.

HOOOOOOOOOO MAN

Interesting. Haven't heard the podcast yet but I do remember hearing Magic may be interested in FVV. Suggs was pretty good defensively before the injuries. Offensively, still a project.. .but.. so are all our players.

The Magic are really high on Suggs. He just shut down Harden last night.

Rightly or wrongly, as elite as the Raptors feel that OG is, the Magic feel that Suggs is more elite.

Shooting is an issue, but I don't think that the Magic are anywhere near giving up on him as an elite 2-way player.

There is no way the Magic feel Suggs is more elite than OG.

What's the fascination behind Hyland? He's awful defensively and sporadic on the other end. To me he seems like a solid bench player on a championship team since his defense will hold him back.

We need a scoring guard like him off the bench. That bench lineup that Nurse put in to start the 4th quarter yesterday was brutal.

As an example, if Flynn was instead Bones, our bench looks very different.

HOOOOOOOOOO MAN

Suggs: big PG who still has upside

Bamba: 7 footer who can hit a 3 and gives Koloko another year of development time

Picks: unlikely they ever trade a 1st...but they have Chicago's this year, Denver in the future.
But even a 2nd rounder this year, the Raps might really like....grab 1st rd talent with a 2nd rd pick and only have to pay them 2nd rd money. Call it "the Koloko"

Orlando knowing that other teams want him only helps our return.

I don't see Magic moving off of Suggs and picks for FVV.

Suggs is going to be an elite defender at his position for years to come. His POA defence is absolutely insane.

Ben Mathurin, Scottie, and whatever top 5 pick we ended up with this year ..

It could of been all so simple.

The Magic already have Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs. If they are getting Fred...I imagine they are trading one or two of those guards. I'm not sure what that looks like for them.

I do like Fultz. He is turning out to be a very capable point guard. If the organization is sure that he is over his past injuries...could be a solid starter for us.

The Magic also have a glut of tall forwards. I thought they were good already with Banchero, Wagner, Bol, Carter and Bamba. Now they also have Jonathan Isaac. I can't see all of these guys getting significant minutes to all be happy. They gotta move one or two of them as well.

If we can get Suggs + filler for Fred, I'd make that trade yesterday. Let the young guys grow this year while tanking and we could be amazing as soon as next year.

Suggs + Barnes + Siakam + Top 5 2023 Draft pick is a great core to start with. Now that's assuming Masai doesn't botch it by doing stupidness like the 6'9 experiment.

This doesn't even count whatever we could get in return for OG/Trent. Heck, I'd try to keep one of those guys if possible.

Raps get: Ayton + Johnson + 2025 Suns 1st unprotected + 2027 Suns 1st unprotected
Suns get: FVV + OG + Poeltl
Spurs get: Saric + 2023 Suns 1st + 2023 Raps 2nd (currently 36th overall)
Seems pretty fair all around. This does seem like a win now move, but also leaves us without a point guard/reliable ball handler. Don't think Barnes and Siakam can handle ball pressure well enough to be a primary ball handler without turnovers. Maybe flip Trent or Johnson for a point guard like Quickley plus filler?

Quickley
Cam Johnson
Barnes
Siakam
Ayton

i like a 3 team with suns and spurs, we take ayton johnson 2 unprotected firsts, suns get fvv og poeltl, spurs get saric a 1st and a 2nd

see what this lineup can do for us next season:
Barnes
Trent
Cam Johnson
Siakam
Ayton

Bench: lottery pick, precious, boucher, thad, banton
114-110... "Curry lets it fly...CANADA THE NBA TITLE IS YOURS."
