I was surprised with the pick last night because CMB is a gritty undersized forward who isn't a great shooter. Forwards who can't shoot are the Masai special, for some reason the Raptors scouts seem to think they can teach everyone how to shoot a jump shot. I probably had CMB in the 13-17 range, so I don't think it was that much of a reach, but still unexpected.

CMB screams role player to me, but he could very well end up being a high level / elite role player. He finally gives our bench a Forward who can come in and give us a spark, play some defense, score some buckets, make good passes, I think he'll have an impactful rookie season. He needs to work on his jumper, but offensively I still think he's a big time upgrade over Mogbo.

We desperately need a backup big, Mogbo isn't it, but the bench is really starting to get some depth

He has a special ability to get to the paint with a live dribble. A lethal sledgehammer from all angles.

I really hope he somehow becomes an average shooter, it would open up so many passing opportunities for him. His lower body mechanics on his shot is a tough watch though.

I think he's a better defensive prospect coming out of school than Scottie was and his offensive game is more refined, and less raw compared with Scottie. CMB's game in Scottie's body would've made him one of the top 3-4 picks imo. But you can't fix size. It's not that CMB is small, he isn't, it's just that Barnes is a physical beast with broad shoulders, and that's a huge advantage in the NBA.

We have the most insecure fans i have EVER seen. stuff like this is all over the thread.

The accusation that we have the most insecure fans because of our reaction to CMB's reaction is just slander.

We are fully aware that Toronto, the only international NBA team, has unique challenges attracting certain athletes. His reaction of shaking his head no, cursing, and having a dead pan look on his face was not initially reassuring.

Personally, I think his post draft interviews put those initial concerns to rest. He was simply in disbelief of the whole experience and seems genuinely happy to be a Toronto Raptor.

I loved CMBs game from the first time I saw his tape, he was one of my earliest draft crushes and I got in a lot of discussions about that with folks here lol. He's just a very good basketball player, it screams of the tape, he just knows how to play.

Many detractors here saw him as a 5 who can't shoot but he's more than that. He can put the ball on the floor and with his strength he can get wherever he wants. Combine that with his defensive skills, BBIQ and passing and you already have the foundation of a very good contributor in his first year.

Then there's the shot. It's not great but not as bad as people made it seem, the combine performance didn't help in that regard but I don't think he's far away from better being able to hit open 3s at a respectable level. In all I love this pick, it makes this team tougher and more physical and that's what you need to win it all. Now let's hope they help him improve his shot and if that happens he might very well end up being in the top 5 of his class.

What is this even based on?? I don’t see any issue at all with either thing and if anything I was impressed with how composed and well spoken he was. Not to mention, all he said was that he will do whatever he’s asked to do so idk where the heck you’re getting this attitude that he has to “prove himself” when he’s shown absolutely zero sense of entitlement.

Based on the fact he said **** on TV and shook his head once he got picked. His girl was not excited either so obviously they dreaded the pick on live TV as it was happening. Not even Ace Bailey did that live. The reaction was very natural and sort of tone deaf for the moment. His agent told him to change the tune right away but I think its acceptable to not be thrilled with a guy that reacts that way.

People react in different ways to different situations. There isn't one way to react. Dude was just drafted. People pretending to be a body language expect and running with the idea that he doesn't want to be here is the lamest thing I've seen from this fanbase.
