Seeing Demar and Jose embrace like that was cute. I'd love to see Jose coming off the bench for us over that chucker Vasquez. Knicks need to buy him out so he can come home.

I think Jose has been gone long enough that people are seeing him with rose-coloured glasses now. While Vasquez's D is medicore to bad, Jose's is downright awful.

To be fair, Jose played with some brutal defensive team mates, when you have Jay Triano as coach and Bargnani manning the paint everyone is going to look bad on D. While he has always been a bad man defender, he knew how to pick his spots on D and funnel the offensive player into help defense.
None the less, his defensive shortcomings would be mitigated as a bench player. So long as he brings what he does best (efficient shooting, low turnovers, playmaking, pick and roll, etc.) he would be a solid backup for Lowry. We don't need him to break down defenses or lockdown opposing PGs, we just need a smart and steady PG which he is.
