Trading your best trade asset first would be a clear tactical error.

Pros for keeping OG-dpoy caliber defence which is the trade mark our team goes for, excellent spot up shooter, which allows others with better handle have the ball in their hands.Age 25 perfect with Barnes timeline and where things are going with our team.
Cons-often injured, may cost a max contract when his contract is up which I don't think he is worth with the skillset now.Seikam is much superior to him offensively and he is not good enough to be featured as number 1 option nm OG who in my opinion is at about 4th option offensively. My conclusion is that if he is unhappy with his role here(not Nurses fault)and requested a trade-in addition to having crazy value as rumoured , you got to pull the trigger .
In A perfect world if Seikam got us a large haul and to a lesser degree Fred, you move on from them and keep OG.

Good players get moved for big hauls in the summer all the time though. Especially after teams have more certainty post draft, or even free agency, and some had good playoff runs and think they are close. Might even be better to wait until after the lottery when the Raps know where teams will be picking.

Better do other trades simultaneously, you run the risk of reduced demand on depreciating assets, namely the UFAs.

The Green/Williams 3 unprotected 1st round picks is what it out there right now. I have not seen much out of Williams but he is only 21 and fits the whole 6 foot 9 player model the Raptors go after. The Pelicans on the other hand have many prospects I like in Daniels/Murphy/Jones plus a bunch of picks including the Lakers 1st this year. Hopefully the Raptors are able to get a deal done with the Pelicans because they have much more interesting pieces.

I've never compared them he said a defensive superstar is a big difference maker when they really aren't.. OG lead us in scoring when we were getting waxed by the 76ers is not really a big deal when we know he's not really consistent like that.. He's a 3 and D role player at best and him trying to be a go to scorer only hinders his game as you can see by the poor numbers in ISO's and drives to the basket. He wants out because he wants a bigger role when he really isn't that guy. He's an amazing role player and that's it anything else is just delusion and you know it as well... If he thinks he can be Luka out there I question his IQ.... He lacks the fluidity and is just clumsy. I'm not saying he's bad but if he doesn't stick to what he does best he's just stupid at this point. You are what you are...

Show me where OG claimed that he wants out? Or that he's playing beyond his 3+D role, What are you basing this off of? His usg rate, and FGA attempts, tell me he's exactly playing the 3 + D role everyone wants him to.

And also, you are moving goal posts, I am arguing this initial point

It's good to play defense but there's a reason why "defensive superstars" like Gobert and Simmons are liabilities out on the floor for their respected teams.

I ask you again, where is the similarity here? And how is OG a liability on offence? As I said, he's been a great 3+ D player in the regular season, and has consistently been one of our better scoring options when the games matter most, during the playoffs (and not just last year either).

Multiple reports say he wants out (smoke there's fire).. obviously he isn't going to say it himself even though we can read his lips

READ IN-BETWEEN THE LINES

One of the main reasons he wants out is because he wants a bigger role aka he wants more ISO

He is a liability on O when he's doing his ISO trash no doubt. But when he's 3 and D he's solid. he's our top scorer in the playoffs sometimes because he's not the main focus of the defense. Imagine if OG was the go to guy in the playoffs? We got serious problems if that's the case.

ALSO, I'M NOT COMPARING THOSE GUYS TO OG. HE SAID DEFENSIVE SUPERSTARS ARE DIFFERENCE MAKERS. I JUST SAID THEY ARE NOT. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OG.

Players on short deals also don't get good value, thats why Kawhi's value was so low. Gobert/Mitchell had long contracts, so they wouldn't be going anywhere for the team that traded them.

Thats why AD only got traded to the Lakers, no one wants to give up the farm for someone to leave as FA. OG would get better value now, they would get have him for the rest of this year and next.

Or you keep the uFAs and re-sign them and they automatically have increased value next season. *if you are confident you can re-sign them to solid deals*
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Yes Masai and Bobby built a team that won a title and I will be forever grateful for that. However, how they handle the next 7 days and this summer will be a true measure of their skill/success. Three or four years from now we're going to be looking back saying that these moves (or lack thereof) saved or torpedoed this team.

Kawhi was injured for a full year and basically said he wanted no where but LA. His value was lower for many more reasons than just a short contract.

Game of Zone should make a special 2023 trade deadline episode.

Almost all the teams and players would be camping outside the the Raptors Castle, while they wait to talk with Masai

100% facts. This is a clear fork in the road.
