Agreed. I've been thinking that a perfect trade for the Raps would be to send IQ to NOP for Ingram. But that would leave the Pels in the tax next year with CJ's massive salary. If necessary, we could take that back as well and send Brown and Boucher to salary match. I'd expect some draft capital coming back, because we'd really be helping them out.

Really glad we didn't do this lol

Eh, it would depend on the draft capital coming back as part of my elaborate proposed deal. But one thing is evident - by keeping and playing IQ, we are gonna win more games this season even with BI on the bench. The long-term effect of that we'll have to find out.

True, but we're 2-4 with him back in the lineup (would've been 1-5 if Maxey remembered how to shoot or Joel took the 3), playing the best team in the league tonight. We'll see how the final 27 games look post ASB, but i think we'll finish bottom 5

Out of all the Masai veteran acquisitions IQ is the most likely to turn into an all star. He just needs to improve his three point volume. I want to see him taking 10 3PA a game. We need someone who can space the floor and then get the ball to Barnes and Ingram in good spots.

Tristan Thompson is a bizzle. Always spurned team Canada, GTFO! As an old player you should know the codes. :nonono:

Jamal Shead is top 5 in assists off the bench. Not amongst rookies but in the ENTIRE NBA.

Per 36 he's averaging 12.4 ppg / 8apg

So we got a guy who's already a really good defender, is a solid playmaker, AND he's surprisingly shooting 34% from three (despite not being a 3pt shooter in college).

22 years of age. He's gonna be a very good role player for us for years to come.

Last night, in his second start: 13p / 9a / 5r

In 2 career starts: 30mpg - 13ppg / 7apg / 3rpg [46/43/100 splits]

That's very FVV like already in his rookie season. Also a pretty decent finisher at the hoop.

Shead's been my favourite rookie since last summer when we drafted him. Not that I think he'll be the best player of the bunch, but I just love everything about the way he plays and conducts himself around the team.

He still makes some mistakes, and even his vaunted defence is inconsistent because he needs to know when to rein in his aggressiveness, but he does so many good things on the court already. But I think by the end of next year he might already be one of the better backup PGs in the league.

I really hope he's a long-term Raptor. In addition to his play, he seems like a great culture guy that would be great to have around for the next 10 years.

He doesn't over-dribble trying to set up his man, he just makes the right team basketball play. He sometimes forces passes but he's just seeing what he can get away with as a rookie. I can see his A/T be around 3 next season.

Very comparable to VanVleet. We dont know if Shead can get a pullup 3, but Shead should have a quicker first step.

I hope Davion Mitchell gives him a better idea on how to setup others as a PG, think where they will catch the ball instead of putting them in difficult situation.

If he can continue to improve that 3, he'll have a very long career. His first step is actually decent, great POA (on smaller players) and can play the lanes. We haven't had a PG with his defensive hands since Lowry/FVV - dude can deflect balls so cleanly. I can totally see him average 15 and 6 in the coming years as our backup PG.

Shead is just adjusting to the speed of NBA defenders.

Been waiting all season for Shead to do this. He didn't even take.off with a ton of speed/ power, but it still looked great. I think we will see better ones down the road.

We're not talking enough about Jamal Shead. To me he's been the most exiting part of this tanking stretch of games lately.

He just keeps growing as a player before our eyes. Can't wait to see what the future brings for him. Just needs to keep learning the game and cut down on turnovers, and figure out how to modulate his aggressiveness on defence. But I have no doubt he'll do that going forward.

Plus, he keeps making fun plays like this:

I thought he’d be a bit limited athletically but he’s actually quite explosive. Different from Fred and certainly Malachi there. He’s shown enough now for me to be pretty optimistic. The 3 point shot looks solid, albeit maybe a little flukey but we’ll see. Decision making needs to get tighter but that’s rookie stuff I think.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I have been trying to tell people all season. The guy is fast & the guy has hops. He looked even more explosive at times last year at Houston. Some people were saying "well, Lowry used to dunk". Lowry doesn't have the same level of arhleticism.

He is just starting to get comfortable now. Trying to find opportunities to be more aggressive. As he builds his confidence, we will see more plays like this.

Look at how far away he jumped last night. That was some.pretty good hang time.

Hah, last night while on the spin cycle I was watching parts of the Portland game on League Pass. It was revealing to see Darko didn't let Shead near the court in crunch time. His fourth quarter minutes have to be restricted from now on.

Let the Big O take those last second 3s.

It feels like he's been told to work on scoring be it push shots or 3's and not to bother with PnR because he's already good enough at that.
