If we notified DD earlier, he’d just start whining about being put on the trade block despite his loyalty. Real disrespectful.

That's a pretty big assumption, given how little he complained during his time in Toronto.

Not a big assumption at all. He didn’t want to be traded period. Does it make a difference how the Raps go about it?

Masai told him one night beforehand..what would make it better? One week beforehand? Not to mention, it’s completely unrealistic to tell him anything when the trade may not even happen

I mean Demar throughout his time here never complained and wasn't a very high-maintenance star. He even said in his espn interview that he fully understands the business side of things. Ideally he loved his situation and would've happily stayed in Toronto, but at the same time understands that a trade could happen as it's a business. His only beef it seems is being misled by Masai, and we'll likely never know exactly what was said between these two guys a few days prior to the trade. But to act like Derozan would've been sulking if Masai explicitly told him that there's a trade possibly in the works and the other team is adamant about taking you back, I think is kind of presumptuous. Demar isn't looking the best right now to the fanbase with his recent criticisms of Masai, but to say he's been anything short of a true professional in his time here is just false. On and off the court he portrayed the team well, and he would very likely understand if the team ultimately decided to trade him.

Also I'm under the impression that Demar found out the night the trade happened, not one night beforehand. This is after Masai and him had a conversation 48 hours or so prior where he was led to believe (rightly or wrongly) that he was moving forward with the team.
