Trade OG after the season on an expiring? get half as much

Good players get moved for big hauls in the summer all the time though. Especially after teams have more certainty post draft, or even free agency, and some had good playoff runs and think they are close. Might even be better to wait until after the lottery when the Raps know where teams will be picking.

Players on short deals also don't get good value, thats why Kawhi's value was so low. Gobert/Mitchell had long contracts, so they wouldn't be going anywhere for the team that traded them.

Thats why AD only got traded to the Lakers, no one wants to give up the farm for someone will leave as FA. OG would get better value now, they would get have him for the rest of this year and next.

Agree that OG would have the most value now but he would still have a lot of value this off season.

Kawhi’s value was low for a few reasons: he was injured and no one could really peg down if he’d ever be the same player again. He was also traded before the AD and PG moves which set off an explosion in the trade market. Prices are much higher now.

If the Raptors are going to trade OG they are going to let the incoming team talk with his agent first to get an idea of what OG is wanting for his contract. Or there will be a bidding war because of the log jam of teams across the league who could maybe win a title if they add him. OG is a plug and play guy on any team so there will be a lineup to get him.

One possible OG hangup: he wants to go to a bad team ala Jerami Grant to get more touches. If that team has cap space or can carve out space we lose leverage.

A non all-star player who cannot consistently hit the three, and basically can do nothing off the dribble shouldn't have some insane value. Good value sure due to his D, but is OG an all-nba player? Marcus Smart is the DPOY and doesn't have the value some people think OG does to many here.

The thing is, teams like NOP and MEM aren’t going to give him a bigger role, he’ll still be 4th option at best. I suppose he could just want to be on a contender but this doesn’t really feel like that’s the case.

I mean OG is by nature a Beta player. I don’t see him providing any leadership or showing any emotions on the floor when this should be his time to shine. Yes he’s great defensively but offensively he hasn’t really made that jump to stardom. This is likely his ceiling so I would just trade him and move on. Same with Fred if the opportunity presents itself.

So then you must not expect much in return for an emotionless beta player who doesn't provide any leadership and already reached his ceiling. Yeah, let's just trade him and move on from this bum!

This kind of passive aggressive attacks against OG should stop now. He averaged 20pts, 5.5 rbs and >2 steals in Nov/Dec with outstanding defense. He continues to improve & grow every year & only 25. Many teams what him, so Masai being an opportunist would be amiss not to listen to offers to see if teams will overpay. If not, then I'm sure Masai will gladly keep his DPOY candidate.

Marcus Smart is 3.5 years older than OG and is a worse and much less versatile defender as well as being a worse shooter.

Youngish players who can play at both ends and who are reasonably paid are worth a lot.
