Hendricks seems like such a Mav pick, they could use another big wing, but Lively being the only worthy 5 after Wemby definately makes in play for Dallas

Agreed. In next years draft he might even sniff the lottery. Tracked him all year. Pretty meh the whole year with a couple nice games towards the end of the season. Has all the tools though. Like a Swedish Baba Miller

Baba was one of my early favourites but dropped off badly on offense. Defensively there’s a ton to like with Baba, but I don’t feel like you can draft him based on that alone. His offense leaves a lot to be desired and if he’s only going to be a guy who can spot up and take you off the dribble once in a while he’s not as much of a unicorn as was advertised.

i'm warming up to Whitehead. He might best self creator behind the arc and not just a catch & shoot, one dribble sidestep (3pt) like Brice.

Dean's approach is unlike other draft blogs. The below paragraph mentions using distance shooting to determine a prospects shooting ability.

Shooting is an extremely important NBA trait, but it is an incredibly volatile and random trait to predict over the long term. It is easy to fall into the trap of looking for the best shooter to draft, but the more efficient method is to look for players who provide the most outside of shooting.

As per this paragraph, Whitehead brought almost nothing else to the table. Really drafting him is just belief that his injury impacted his numbers greatly.

Defense-first is the best way to go and the Raptors have had a lot of success in the draft just going after this kind of player. The perceived redundancy isn't a problem when the player is actually good and drives play.

Whitehead fractured his right foot in the preseason and had surgery (Aug 30th) to repair it. If the same injury occurred in the NBA he would have been sidelined for at least 4-5 months. He's a good defender with a 6'9 wingspan. I'm basing his potential off his HS resume.

I know, but even if you look at his high school numbers his game is pretty reflective of a player that impacts the game with scoring and little else and I suspect he's just another overrated Monteverde prospect that probably got by on his jumper. RSCI is super hit and miss at the top. If he rushed his recovery to cash in that's also questionable judgement.

Yup. When I watch a guy's highlights (which are supposed to be the best plays the player has on their reel) and I'm not impressed, then he's either a low-key guy whose contributions are not the kind that pop in short segments, or he's just not that good. Does he have potential? Sure. But I need to see more than I have so far. Even the flashes are underwhelming right now.

It's ok, everyone takes Ls sometimes. I still remember wanting Deyonta Davis over Pascal. Baba still has time to become something if he works hard.
