Re: Lowry Free Agency Thread
BC would have Lowry locked up in a max contract by now.

I think Masai has already planned this out. Not too worried.

The problem is, Lowry is one of the top "attainable" free agents this year. And his attitude this year showed a total professional maturity. So I have no doubt there would be many bidders for his services. Once the handful of max guys stay put (Big 3) or jump ship (Melo) there isn't much left to choose from.
The downside of losing him is immense, and not worth the $2-3mm overpay to keep him from being tempted elsewhere.
The assumption you're making here...that he both turned his rep around in the league and that a lot of teams will think he fits well and would be willing to pony up for him, I disagree with.
I'd take my chances, like I said before. Make a fair offer up front, give him an option of years, and stick to it. I would not be reactive to what a team like MIA may or may not do, in fact I'd use that uncertainly to my advantage. We are uncertain but Lowry will be too, I'd be betting he doesn't want to turn down a 4/40 type of deal to test the waters considering his lack of previous big paydays. Say MIA is his only serious suitor (I have my doubts), they would only go after him if their other plans fall flat.
Well, now that Houston is so obviously eager to snag him, including Mchale visiting in person, I think we can say for certain his reputation has obviously turned around.
I don't understand how so much of our fanbase who saw him play his ass off for us every single night is reluctant to pay the guy. Other teams saw it too.
Now all we can hope for is that Masai read the lay of the land accurately and makes a pitch that Lowry can't refuse.
And still should it not be the winning bid... We'll replace him.

Lowry re-signing in Toronto after being this coveted might make him my favorite Raptor ever. Fingers crossed, hope Lowry isn't cut from the same cloth as our previous stars.

What about DeRozan dawg?!?!

I'm shocked that Masai, Tim and Casey didn't go to Philly to meet Lowry in person. Were they just planning to Skype the contract negotiations? lol.

I think, should he leave, that we're going to find he is not easily replaced.

Would absolutely be awful planning on his part.
Come on now-stop that. He is a Free agent*, one that has a very good chance at resigning.
Statements like that...poor planning?How?
Poor planning (potentially) as in not trading Lowry last off-season and passing up the opportunity to tank in the process.
New York wasn't even offering their 2018 draft pick. Dolan nixed the deal. So, you give away Lowry for nothing? Only a stupid gm would do that.

Re: Lowry Free Agency Thread
It would be hilarious if Morey walks into Kyle's house with his entourage only to see Masai, Drake and Leiweke there as Lowry is signing his new contract. Ultimate troll moment lol

Probably. I never understood how Grange said it was a done deal. This will prob go on for a week and Kyle wants to hear every team that is interested make a pitch. It's the first time he is wanted in the NBA after being a "tough player to coach" for most of his career. He will take his time in agonizing us and then make his decision.
I think that Drake breakup memes are going to relevant if he leaves.

We'll be ok if our Plan B is Bledsoe.

I believe this is the article...
Link:
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/how-kyle-lowry-transformed-the-raptors-and-became-of-the-nba-s-top-point-guards-225543400.html"I would have done things differently in Houston," Lowry says. "I really respected Kevin McHale. I wish I would have had an opportunity to play for him longer. The things he was teaching me, well, I didn't understand right away. When you get away from someone, though, see it from the outside looking in, you go back and think, 'Damn, I could've learned some more things from the guy.'
I have a feeling he's signing with Houston to pair himself with Harden and Dwight... I think there's a better chance he signs there than Toronto. He loved Houston.
If it happens, it's not the end of the world... Masai needs to get a sign and trade going for Chandler Parsons... then try his heart out to get Bledsoe.
TBH I'd rather have a lineup with Bledsoe/DeRozan/Parsons/Amir/JV.
Maybe we can offer Houston Ross and Fields for Bledsoe in a S&T since they wanted Ross for Ennis. It's a distinct possibility... but it's still possible.

Grange still confident that Kyle stays and doesn't seem worried. He was one of the ones who said Chris Bosh will leave.
