Boston is a championship calibre team even without Tatum.

Why did Darko take Martin out when he was playing well during that sequence

Not mad about an 8 point loss without 3 key starters and RJ gone.

How long we thinking with that btw.. he out till all-star game?

Praying that the RJ thing was just a moment thing, and that it feels better tomorrow. Best case is a low grade ankle sprain

We're talking about Ja'Kobe Walter, right?

He's been reduced to a guy who has been taking 2/3s of his shots from 3. He's been doing quite a bit better inside the arc than last year when he's had a chance to take a shot, and he's shooting almost 36% from 3. He isn't a stunning shooter, hasn't been killing it from the corner or anything, but he hasn't been awful. He just isn't the guy you want initiating your offense and supporting volume.

He's had a chance to take 10 shots (not 10+, just 10) on only 3 occasions so far this season prior to this game. He shot 5/10 once, and 6/10 twice. And then tonight.

He's actually done reasonably well when he's been involved.

Some players perform better with more.minutes & not having to look over their shoulder. They can get in rhythm & not play with fear.

Walter might be that guy ar some.point. People will think he suddenly got better, but it will just be more opportunity.

He's a keeper. Definitely worth developing.

We've got him for 3 or 4 more years if we want him, and cheap. May as well give him a look. He isn't a replacement for RJ, but he might be better than nothing if we let him catch a rhythm.

My point is that he hasn't developed a game (yet) where he could take more shots. He doesnt have a great handle or a strong enough body to attack the rim so how the hell is he gonna be able to take more shots? He is reduced to taking standstill shots.

Putting up performances in a tanking/losing situation isnt a great indicator of being a good player. We need him to be more impactful with better players around him and for that, he needs to develop a broader skillset.

Boston has always gotten away with a ton of moving screens & have tupically been allowed to be more physical than the other teams.

It happened back in the KG/ PP days. Still happening today.

Many of Queta's "screens" were overtly illegal tonight. They don't call that stuff, but they have to call the marginal contact on Brown's drives.

He isn't the guy to be your POA attacker, sure. But we have a team where we can run stuff to help him get looks. RJ isn't our POA attacker most of the time either, but there are ways to get him looks inside the scope of our offense.

Don't mistake what we need for being the same as his performance level. He's a cheap guy who might become a rotation player. Not a replacement for All-Star performers. Treating him to expectations beyond his talent level is just a setup for failure and disappointment.
