A combination of very hot shooting from the Raps and terrible preparation from a terrible team.

Even before this game, I have been saying that Phoenix will be in the late lottery this year.

I do believe some of you forget the importance of pre-season games... there is no importance to them whatsoever

From 2003-2010, not once have the Raptors in preseason, postseason or reg season beaten a team by 50. And not to mention.. they missed like 30 easy shots and 2 of their 3 best offensive players played like crap. (Andrea, Barbosa)

This team is going to score a TON of points.. and now they suddenly can defend. Remind me why Chris Bosh was so crucial again?

You should save the boasting for the regular season, and maybe not when Bargnani shoots 1-9 in 23 minutes.

That's kind of what's impressive about this win. Andrea sucked on O and Barbosa didn't do too much either yet we still were able to win convincingly. Everyone brought something good to the table tonight and that was the best we've played D in a long time, if ever. (I still don't think KO's team was great at D, we just slowed the pace to a crawl). This team is young and will be inconsistant and for sure lose their fair share of games, but what we saw tonight was promising. I'm now real interested to see how long we can keep this play up for.

sure there is..
- it's to get the players into season form or work off the rust
- for coaches to work out their rotations
- for coaches to work out their system
- for new players to get acquainted to the system
- for unknown prospects to show their potential
- for players to compete for a starting position or a role on the team
- to develop some chemistry with the team
- for rookies to ease into the NBA

If we played terribly I doubt anyone would just chalk it up to it being preseason though.

Wow, from the hate of Bargs, to the expectations of this team. Amazing how 1 game, pre-season no less, has altered the perceptions of this board.

Anyways I loved the effort and intensity on both sides of the ball, hopefully they can keep this up throughout the season. Great game to start out.

I was at the game tonight and noticed a few things out there:

-Dorsey was really impressive rebounding the ball, really went after everything and Tried to dunk it every opportunity he got; had that one huge dunk that got people out of their seats too!
-Reggie really is a solid Blue collar player that just gets the crowd going with his antics, people loved him today
-Even in Vancouver everyone was Booing Turd every time he would touch the ball, it was a beautiful thing to hear :)
-Calderon still cant play a lick of D, When Nash was out there he could have blown by Calderon easily every time down if he really wanted to
-The raps aren't very great at find their athletic players on lob opportunities, I counted at least 3 times where the raps could have thrown up an Alley oop and gotten easy points but instead threw it short or people tried to score on their own, really hope they improve on that cuz we have lots of athletes and we must take advantage of it.
-The crowd wasnt too sure who to cheer for out there tonight, but defintly lots of Raptor fans out there today, fans were wanting a much closer game tho, people began to leave half way thru 3 and the arena was half full by the middle of the 4th
-Bargs is invisible out there today, forgot he was even playing
-Amir really fouls a tonne, not sure what it is but the whistle loves him
-The techs they were handing out were just ridiculous and the NBA should really not be so strict with the techs or it will really ruin the game.
-I think the full court pressure really surprised the suns, they didn't look like they were expecting it really and unsure of how to play it; unorganized really.
Props to TZ for the sig:

This game was very sloppy. Despite the victory, we were sloppy as hell, but competent defensively. Phoenix was just atrocious on both ends.

Kleiza was the only guy ready for the regular season. Everybody else was out of whack or just plain sucked. I take really nothing from this game except for Kleiza will have a good year and has improved. Maybe he's a 13/5 player by this point.

shut your pie hole. you are just a hater.

you can rag on him for a bad shooting game, but not for the way he crashed the boards and got his hands dirty.

The only thing worthwhile to take from this is that they have a sense of pride.

The offense looks rough, but there's so many shot-makers and finishers on the team that they can afford to be disorganized. They won't be able to play defense like that most of the year, but they might be able to squeeze out a few extra wins and at least set a tone for the following year.

As for individual performances, I liked what I saw from Julian Wright, David Anderson, Jarret Jack, Kleiza, ALabi and Dorsey.

The guys who were suspect: Bargnani, Jose, Barbosa, Weems, Dupree, Banks

Somewhere in the middle, DeRozan, Amir, Evans.

While Bargnani looked pretty bad offensively, I thought he played good defense.

Hey! Someone I agree with. His help seemed better, although getting into rebounding position still wasn't great.

Also, watching Phoenix just re-affirmed my suspicion that Turk is going to be terrible in that starting line-up. The occasional mismatch wasn't worth him getting murdered on the defensive end. Plus, he won't be able to keep that rebounding effort up, which was really his only value to this game. It's pretty apparent that Dragic isn't a strong enough ball-handler/decision maker to run the 2nd unit on his own, and it just seems like Turk is a natural fit coming off the bench to help alleviate the pressure that Dragic will face.
