The one trade I see possibly happening is this

To TOR: Humphries + 2013 1st rounder

To BKN: Bargnani + Cash considerations

We get Humphries expiring contract and a late first rounder in this years draft.

Not a terrible loot for Bargnani. Wouldn't be surprised to see something around these parameters happen too.

this would be a heaven sent deal...maybe if Bargnani regains some early lockout season form...maybe.

First off. No way we are getting a pick back for Bargnani. Second, just to unload him for an expiring would cost Ross

These deals are pipe dreams. The only sensible resolution is making a run at Eric Gordon and hoping everyone plays better being in a lineup that is fitting for their skill set...maybe then they could be dealt...not now

The combination of Masai's patient approach and a GM somewhere who believes Andrea just needs a change of scenery could certainly land us an expiring and a pick in this weak draft. In today's NBA, a stretch four is more valuable than one might think.

Point is, it's not even worth proposing a Bargnani deal anymore. It will either be critiqued as "no way the Raptors get that in return!" or "if that's all they can get, amnesty is a better option."

If the goal is to win now, then yes. Landing Iguadala to go along with our current players would make us a top notch defensive team in the league. If we're not rebuilding I wouldnt hesitate to pull that.

I agree. We need to be realistic with Bargnani. When was the last time a fan from another team said, "hey, i like this Bargnani guy"? It's been a long time. Imagine being a casual fan of a different team that gave up assets for Bargnani?

The move will at best be lateral. BKN could do Humphries for Bargs and deal the first elsewhere I'm thinking. If for some odd reason they wanted Bargnani. I'm willing to admit Bargs could prove somewhat valuable in the future. I'm a bit of a sucker. But he's done nothing to suggest that he will play better. Just too many red flags.

I've posted an expanded version of this, but Humphries for Bargnani makes little sense for Brooklyn in my opinion. They give up a guy who's expiring sooner and willing to do the dirty work. Bargnani at best will just be another version of what Blatche already does for them. My version is for Rudy Gay instead, which is very plausible if we decide to blow it up, plus we also get Brooks, Taylor, and Thomas Robinson from Houston in my version (page 1 of this thread).

If their deal was centered around this year's pick AND next year's I would be down for it.

That is probably plausible, their pick will probably be in the mid 20's next year.

I really like those trade ideas. We would lose a ton of games next year ensuring a high 2014 draft pick, while at the same time picking up young prospects like Jeremy Lamb and Thomas Robinson. Also we would have enough cap space to get a couple major FAs in the summer of 2014. Those are some great ideas man, I hope Masai goes this route!

Finally a response! That's exactly what I was going for. I would assume we could get a top-5 pick in next years draft because I honestly don't see us being better than anyone with that team.

If we did all that (get Lamb, TRob & 1st rd this year and next from the Nets for Lowry, DeRozan & Gay) I would be very happy with our return

just an idea if the Rockets miss out on Dwight instead of signing Smith or Millsap they'd rather wait on Love or aldridge...a trade around Rudy Gay for Thomas Robinson. Rudy Gay's contract expires when Love is set to become a FA and Rockets for now run with Lin/Harden/Gay/Parsons/Asik. I don't really like it for us but just an idea if we go the tank route which everyone seems to want and we get cap relief

Cousins is a big risk. Guy is an a-hole.

I like us targeting for 2013 - Anthony Bennett, Myck Kabongo
2014 with a semi tank (realistically) - Andrew Harrison, LeBryan Nash

If we lose 3 of Demar, Amir KL and RG to do that so be it. That is two point guard prospects and two small forwards.

The raptors need to trade all our hefty salary guys (gay, bargs, demar, fields, lowry) for expiring contracts, prospects and draft picks. That should be Masai's game plan! It would create major cap space in 2014, help us attain a very high pick in 2014 and we'd have new prospects to develop like thomas robinson, jeremy lamb to add to our already young and talented core of Ross and Val.

Wrong, it least partially. It doesn't matter if we have bad contracts on the roster becasue they will become expirings when our current young players and future draft picks are going to require extensions. The last thing the raptors should be doing right now is trying to shed bad contracts (i.e. Landry) by using assets (i.e. Ross). Or worse, trying to package assets like Rudy and Demar with other bad contracts. Fact is that both Rudy and Demar will bring back more/better assets on their own than if you combine them with a bad contract. For all I care, Bargs can rot on the bench until he becomes an expiring contract (asset).

I guess what I am trying to say is that we should be more concerned with building an asset base (which includes having exprings contracts to trade for other players on bad contracts and picks) rather than trying to get capspace to overpay middle tier players (i.e. Iggy, RFAs, etc) while our team still can't compete.

You have to take a look at what GMs might be interested in Gay, given their history and team structure. Hell, BC seemed like the type of GM to take a risk on Gay and the team needed more offensive punch...

I see Chris Wallace potentially being that guy if he gets the Kings job. Sacaramento is rebuilding, but they also need to ensure the team is selling it self to fans who almost lost the team. New ownership spent a lot of money and needs some ticket sales.

A deal around Cousins, along with the team's horrid contracts (we need to eat crap, if we're dealing a crappy contracts) could be a starting point to an extent. Something like Gay FOR Cousins AND Outlaw, Salmons, Hayes...makes sense....Kings draft a center and some sign some key role reserves and have a name in Gay, still some youth to move forward with.

We take on those bad deals but net Cousins...most logical Gay to Sacto idea.

Having said all of that...Cousins coming to Toronto makes no sense...in tank/rebuild...we need more 2014 chances at Wiggins...right?

So in a 3 way deal, what team that could theoritically be in the lotto be willing to give up a 2014 pick (unprotected) for Cousins? Washington, Minnesota perhaps, Phoenix potentially?

First, I think Gay and Harden is an excellent fit and might be the second best wing duo next to LBJ and Wade. If they don't luck out on Howard, that wouldn't be a terrible consolation prize for them.

The Gay to Kings idea has been discussed on here before as well. I proposed Gay + 2015 (lotto protected) 1st for Cousins + bad salary. I'd do it, I just don't think they would and it sounds like they want to keep him anyways.

Why? Indiana fizzed out during the playoffs. George is their go-to guy and when he's locked down, the team loses a bulk of their offense. Hill, West and Hibbert are good but they need someone else who can score. Ellis is also 3 years younger than Granger and George looks to be the Pacers' future at SF.

Milwaukee out: Monta Ellis
Milwaukee in: DeMar DeRozan

Milwaukee probably will not be able to hang on to Monta Ellis. In this situation, they move him for a younger piece on a long term deal that they can add to a core of Jennings, Ilysova and Sanders. Jennings and DeRozan are good friends and acquiring him could make Jennings want to stay with the Bucks.

L.A out: Caron Butler, Eric Bledsoe
L.A in: Danny Granger

Butler hasn't worked out as well as planned in L.A and the Clippers are trying to win now. Butler is 33 and declining and Granger could step into that position for them. He's 3 years younger than Butler, a good defender and a clutch shooter. Either way, they won't have the money to re-sign Bledsoe after the Paul deal.

Toronto out: DeMar DeRozan
Toronto in: Caron Butler, Eric Bledsoe

Fair enough. I think Toronto does deserve more incentive in this deal but I'm not sure who should send it. Asking for a pick from the Clippers might be a little much for Granger, Indiana...I guess they could throw in a first... It'll be a really late one anyways and Milwaukee...I don't know if they'd be willing to throw in a first since they're trading arguably the best player in the deal. Although he is leaving them anyways...

But if Granger is healthy, this is a very good deal for Indiana and L.A
