If we overpay him it will massively suck for us also. How long did it take for us to recover from GG's drunk-punch spending in the summer of 2001? Sometimes you take a hit in image for the long term good.

KL is a good player and he was the leader of this team in our playoff run. This being said i say give him 10 mil tops per 4 years. He's 28 and injury prone, to overpay will be a big mistake. If he dont sign with us, we should go after Bledsoe with a 15 mil offer per year. Bledsoe is young like our core and has the potential to replace KL. If this deal fails, we sure have screwed the Suns in their dream of signing LJ and C. Anthony  They screwed us by stealing Ennis from us...

The Knicks just traded an overpaid aging Tyson Chandler. The Rockets backloaded Asik's contract like crazy and just dumped him for a 1st rounder. If you're Masai you MUST retain Lowry because even if he falls off, there will be teams who want him. The Rockets right now have Lin's fat contract and teams are apparently lining up to take it.

With Nigeria down vs. France, Masai might be lowballing.

If its 12 a season for 4 years, I'm fine with it. We have never retained a FA who is right in the prime of their career (Vince was a different scenario altogether). This signing would be a big step for us. A slight overpayment is fine. The signing represents a huge change for this franchise, and people need to see the significance of that. You can't win without keeping your big time players.

Kyle has played fantastic for 3-4 seasons now, last year being that season where he finally found the place he was most comfortable with and excelled in, but other than the first off year and Toronto he will get you 16-7-5 pretty much with fantastic shooting and defense regardless. I will be jumping up an down if this happens personally.

MU signed Nene to 5/65, Gallo to 4/42, Afflalo to 5/38, WilsonChandler 5/37, Javale McGee 4/44.

Lowry will break the bank here in TOR.

Shouldn't Raps speak to LeBron at midnight?

I don't think Leiweke would ever dictate a basketball decision to Masai. I think Leiweke is just making sure to let everyone know money is not an issue with this team and that if the Raps need to ever pay an insane amount to keep or get a player they will.

Games in last few years, 79, 68, 47, 75. Hardly injury prone. had one injury riddled season, then a season we shut him down for games because we were going to miss the playoffs, and last year he was fine all year.

This is the final test of Masai's voodoo powers. If he signs him to some ridiculous $36MM/4 deal, I promise to never doubt anything he does, ever again.

Cause if HOU is even close to our number Lowry might bolt and if MIA can give him 9mill per on average that may be enough to land him and leave major money on the table to win championships.

Its going to be a big offer from TOR. 3 years is out the window unless we go 3/45. Most likely going to be 4/44 or higher now.

Lucky, you & I have been thinking the same thing this whole offseason when it's comes to Kyle... Would love only a 3yr deal but I've been thinking that is out the window for awhile now... We are also in agreement that 4yr/44m is as big as we get... People keep saying " what's the difference of 1-2m more per year really" (meaning a 4yr/48m-50m deal)? It's a lot! It's too much... 1-2m here, 1-2m there it actually starts to add up to real money that's the difference... It's like saying what's the difference between having pick #18 vs pick #20, it's only 2 spots... Well those 2 spots cost us Ennis... All I am saying is the inches are everywhere & we need those inches... 1-2m more per year for Kyle are those inches... Getting scared we are going to overpay like crazy to keep Kyle... Feel like Kyle is going to be this years Josh Smith...

Because Lowry plays more of a ground based game, his injuries will be more of the bumps and bruises variety. He hustles and rebounds, but he doesn't rely as much on anklebreaking moves and athleticism, so his joints aren't as stressed as most PGs.

It's a nice thought, but let's ask Detroit how they are doing with J.Smith's contract... Yes we will probably be able to trade him but for what? 10m/yr Kyle Lowry is a tradable asset you will get value in return, a 12-13m/yr Kyle Lowry is not... Yes, the Rockets just trade Asik for a 1st Rd. It was also the last year of his deal, that only takes up 8.5m on the cap for a defensive bigman... Big difference between Kyle Lowry at 12m with say 3yrs still left on his deal...

Few things. First off, that's assuming Kyle falls off the face of the Earth with his play. Second thing, Josh Smith is totally different in terms of what he brings to a team and isn't that leader player on a team who takes and makes big shots and makes big plays. If Lin can be traded, Kyle can be traded. If Rudy can be traded, Kyle can be traded. I doubt anyone here would even think to trade Gay for Kyle.

Gotta be honest=-anything over 12 mil/year and I say let him walk... Ideally 40/4 years with team option last year.

Its funny a lot of players are taking less now to have a better team like the big 3 in Miami and Duncan in SA . I wonder if that would have any bearing on Lowry to take less and sign another player or if he just wants all the cash he can get .

I can see 3/39 or 4/48

Anything above that is a big overpay considering the sample size

Return to Toronto Raptors
