“A lot of times we mistake not understanding English for ignorance,” Casey said. “And that’s not the case. You tell him one thing to do something, and he gets it right the next time. That’s so important. He rarely makes the same mistake twice. All he’s got to continue to do is play. Get stronger.

"I love that people said he’s two years away from being two years away. Those people don’t know anything about basketball if that’s what they think. He has just as much talent as a lot of these guys.

FTFY. God damn it Raptors. :nonono:

I really like how we added Bruno but we don't have to put pressure on him to perform...I felt that Casey will hesitate to play him meaningful minutes though...

What is the ceiling for Bruno?

Post#84 » by zeebo » Mon Jul 14, 2014 7:08 pm

After watching Caboclo in 2 summer league games I have to say I can't take my eyes of the kid. He flows very gracefully and has a confidence that I didn't expect. The KD comparison is unfair but really the only 2 guard who could match up physically to him. I can definitely see what Masai saw in him and see him as a solid contributor in the not 2 distant future. I say in 2 years he is a rotation guy averaging 9 pts and 4 rbs. 4 yr outlook is 15 pts and 6 rbs. Any thoughts?

Recently in an interview he said that he needs to work on his speed and quickness. What's not to love about him, he spends like 11 hours a day in the gym, has swag, and is just a great human being.

This kid will have no haters on this board. Only the pure manifestation of evil can hate on this kid.

I don't get those people who are saying that he is 2 years away from being 2 years away.

I think he is just an year away from being 3 years away.

On a serious note: I don't mind him taking 3-4 years to develop. He might not see more than 5 minutes a game and a lot of DNPs but if he stays with the team in practice and develop his body and make a few trips to the D league this year, he will develop just right.

I wish the NBA has a proper minor league system, like they do in Hockey and Baseball.

have Bruno go develop on the "farm team" for a year then bring him up.

the D-League is a joke

He needs to be more aggressive on offence, he settles way too often and kind of floats around the perimeter as a rule. But he's also expectedly timid; dude's got no experience to go on. His potential is off the charts.

Watching him right now, he's extremely smooth he just needs that experience in the NBA style game, will be a solid contribution in a season. He works hard too, no doubt the hardwork will triumph through all the hate.

Is Caboclo ready for NBA or should he be overseas?

Post#90 » by youngtea » Tue Jul 15, 2014 12:02 am

After seeing him getting exploited in the summer league I can't understand what use it is for the team or him on our 15 man roster. Are there lots of examples of players that were not NBA ready, but were brought over to get developed on a teams roster?

Do you think the Raptors made a mistake by bringing Caboclo over this season? Should he have stayed in Braziled and played 1 more season before the Raptors brought him over?

"Stayed in Spain"? :-?

Edit: I guess you changed that. He's not NBA ready, everyone knows that, but it's best for his development to be around the team.

Spain? Yeah, let's pluck Bruno out of his home country, and throw him in another continent he's never stepped foot on.

Corrected my mistake. Meant to say should they have left him in Brazil (where he played limited minutes) or had him transfer to a european team.

Send the kid to North Korea. That will build up his confidence.

If he could get playing in time in ACB which I highly doubt it would be good for both parties... But I think he's not really ready for Europe too, maybe it's better to keep him in DLeague closer to our organisation

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

So I guess Brazil and Canada are in the same continent now? lol

And I fixed the mistake about playing in Spain. Explanation is above.

He should stay. His long term development is a bigger benefit to the team then what a 15th man is going to provide.

He's at most 1 year away from being 2 years away.

But I agree, he wouldn't play much there either, might as well be around our training staff
