2009 Draft redo would have imo

1) Blake Griffin
2) Curry
3) Harden
4) DD
5) Holiday

Notable flops

2) Thabeet
4) Tyreke
5) Rubio
6) Flynn

Minnesota passes on Curry/Demar twice to pick rubio/flynn

to be fair rubio and tyreke are decent players. thabeet and flynn might as well be out of the league

I watched Flynn play live in preseason that year, against the Raps, and he was by far the best player on the court, we couldn't stop him. Thought then they had a real stud, not sure why his career went down the crapper.

We love to look back on our drafting misfortunes, but we have nothing on Minni, that draft alone would have put me into a mental hospital.

I remember this like yesterday man. Michael Jackson died and I was high on DeRozan after realizing Harden and Evans were going to be off the board. I really thought New York was going to pick Curry at the time and was shocked Minnesota picked Flynn and Rubio back to back. I was at my friend's house during the draft and when we picked DeRozan, I went nuts lol. I was lurking the board at the time so I remember people being high on Henderson and Williams and the smokescreens. And the Point-Center thing

I thought he played an old man game, boy was i wrong

Actually, you're not necessarily wrong here. He does have an old man game for the most part, except he is successful with it.

Injuring his hip really messed him up badly. He was a completely different player after the surgery.

Hmm not sure about this thread...I actually remember most of the board being excited to get DeRozan?! Especially with the media twist saying he had somewhat of a VC potential hence why most ppl snapped after the 1st and 2nd season when it was evident he was far more raw than that at the time. I just remember really wanting Harden.

But a sad, funny memory I have of it was hating Steph Curry lol I talked crap about him and absolutely dredded the idea of him falling to us in the draft; fml how wrong I was on that one. I really thought he was what Austin Rivers is. By far the most I've been off about a player and the crow didn't taste good.

I thought Curry would have been a low percentage chucker. He's still a chucker but I was way off about the percent.

Surely Rubio would feature in top 5 in a redraft?

This place is insufferable.

It's too bad that Willie Warren and Terrence Williams couldn't manage to stick around in the league many people were high on them back in the draft days thought they had bright futures but maybe they could be back some point down the road. Nonetheless so glad we took DeRozan if he ends up playing for the Raptors his whole career then he'll be my favourite Raptor player of all time ahead of Vince Carter.

His stock went down a bit because Rubio needed top 3 money to buy himself out of his Euro contract. He didn't get it, got picked by a small market in Minne and didn't want to pay out of pocket to come over for them.

Now? He's trying to weasel a max deal from them lol.

The Vince Carter comparisons got to me no lie.

I wanted us to draft him because it felt like a great fit. Plus we needed a SG at the time.

Worked out wonders for us.
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

Yeah it was the VC comparisons that really got me hooked onto drafting him

Didn't turn out to be anywhere near VC, but still panned out nicely. What a pick at #9. For sure a top 5 player from his draftclass.

This has easily been the best post of the off-season thus far!
