Lithuanian media bumping Jeezy

Seriously though, he looked pretty good in that video. I mean it's only practice, but he showed quite a few nice counters and they were really quick. Still pump faking a ton, but that will never change, it's his calling card now like Kobe's fadeaway. I don't know how good that dude training against him is, but he got pushed out of the way really easily by Jonas. I hope he will do that to everyone in the World Cup.

if you see big guy who somehow got in lithuanian NT, thats mean he is one of the best. Lithuania have a lot of wery good big men
another thing. is it me, or JV shooting technique has changed?

http://www.fiba.com/basketballworldcup/2014/news/LTU-Kazlauskas-looking-for-boost-from-Valanciunas

With Jonas Valanciunas arriving in Lithuania on Thursday night after an extended stay in North America following the end of his second NBA season with the Toronto Raptors, the team will have additional scoring and rebounding.

They also hope to have a rim protector.

As a rookie in the NBA, Valanciunas averaged 8.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game but those numbers jumped to 11.3 and 8.8 in his second year, one that saw the Raptors reach the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

The 22-year-old actually suffered a drop in the blocked shots department.

In his first season, he had 78 swats in 62 regular season games while in 81 appearances in 2013-14, he rejected 71.

"We need a force under the basket, especially when there is no Robert Javtokas," said Lithuania coach Jonas Kazlauskas in reference to the absence of his veteran center.

Javtokas is carrying too many knocks and won’t play at the World Cup.

Valanciunas, who has three summers of senior national team experience under his belt, is indeed a key man for the Lithuanians.

It's uncertain if he will appear in a friendly tournament that Lithuania are hosting this weekend in Klaipeda, with Ukraine, Finland and Australia all taking part.

"Does he play in Klaipeda?" Kazlauskas said, "so far I can not say yet."

Valanciunas improved statistically in his second NBA season.

The opposing guy is Kavaliauskas (spent a while with Texas A&M), 6'9" and 240. Seems that +20 pound JV has compared to him really help Jonas to be comfortable in the post. At least, against quite lazy defense as it is on the video.

I noticed that too. With Jonas's length and touch around the basket I'd much rather he be able to back people down at the sacrifice of a little bit of bounce.

Was this posted?

http://probballreport.com/jonas-valanciunas-rytas-coach-liked-him-better-before/

Kurtinaitis on JV: "I liked Jonas more when I coached him in Rytas: was softer, leaner, quicker, more mobile & reminded of a young Sabonis.”

— Simonas Baranauskas (@LithuaniaBasket) August 4, 2014

Kurtinaitis on JV's extra bulk: “He's doing it for NBA. It's more physical & more reliant on 1-on-1. NBA & Europe are 2 different worlds."

You can definitely tell the Hakeem influence.

When he gets in the post, he does a little turn both ways with his body to feel out which way to go.

That video impressed me... can't wait to see how he plays this year, I'm expecting some really big things.

I'm barely reacting. Like I said, it was just a weird thing to say.

He's nothing too great, but I'd call him adequate. He played in Bilbao (ACB) a couple years ago.

Too fat!?

Can't shoot the three!?

Game was too FRIENDLY for his attitude!?

Yeah, I wasn't sure when he'd actually start playing. It'd be nice to see him get some burn soon though!

EDIT: Don't think it was posted but here's an article about how they're looking for fatty to be a force down low http://www.fiba.com/basketballworldcup/ ... alanciunas

So Lithuania has had a chronic rebounding problem lately and yet some Lithuanian blogger is hating on Val for putting on extra mass and implying he's not suitable for FIBA play?

But that's his downside.

No thats his backside.

Lowry's upside is mental and psychological.

Living in Europe these past few years I've learned something about European basketball fans. Those, that are not interested in the NBA, for some reason consider them as the freaking devil, claiming that there's no defense played there and everyone on offense only plays one on one. Not all European fans are like that, but I've met quite a few with that kind of thinking. Wouldn't be surprised if that Lithuanian guy was one of them.

Large feet. He'd get injured walking normally on those little stairs.
