Ross's offense has been a struggle, but the defense is the worst part. He's just getting blown by like he doesn't give a ****. When you supposedly have the foot speed and quickness to be a defensive stopper and you're getting blown by, why are you even in the NBA? Better to just invest in a high 2nd round pick and get someone who will give 100% on D at all times.

Been thinking the same thing. Want the guy to do well, but it's not happening here. I am wondering if it's some personal life issues.

Ross + whatever for Tyler Ennis?

I agree.

I found last season Ross could stay in front of almost any player in the league.

It's all mental.

Good one, Andrea is one hell of a specie, single handily brought down a 2 time EOY GM, and also was traded immediately upon arrival of a GM who is known for his patience and slow approach.

Didn't notice that. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad Casey did that. I am sick of these careless turnovers, forcing long, difficult passes that are just too risky. It seems 75% of the time it leads to a turnover. Kyle has been worse than anyone in this regard. What happened to the team that started the season with the lowest turnover rate in the league?

We are on our way back to being a defense oriented team & you can see how much better this team is performing because of it. Now we just have to clean up the risky passes leading to unnecessary turnovers.

I think "terrible" is a little over the top, but he has lost his consistency and focus. The thing is mental issues can be improved on, and he does have the talent to be an nba rotation guy.

He is 100% a player I could see being traded, but his current value and the possibility of it backfiring make it hard to pull off.

I went to rewatch the play. Vasquez's pass was not risky at all. Ross just went to catch it with one hand and dropped it out of bounds. Lazy, careless play. They played 10 seconds into the next possession and were both subbed out. When I was at the game yesterday, I was taken aback by how upset Vasquez was on the bench.

Was at the game last night and really trying to keep an eye on Ross the whole time he was on the floor. As my Av would suggest I want him to do well.... he was not just bad, I don`t think he made a positive play on either end of the floor. As others have suggested he has lost all focus. He isnt expecting the ball when it comes to him. Aside from that play Troubadour mentioned, Ross got an assist on a three ball from GV when he panicked, fumbled the ball and just threw it to the first white jersey he saw. Worst assist ever?
There was one play in the second were he tried to create a shot off the dribble from the top of the key and the shot he took was just awful.
On defence he seems unable to keep anyone in front of him, nor is he able to guard a man off ball. He got lost terribly on one possession and ended up under the hoop all by himself waiting for a rebound while his man had cut back up the arc on the other side of the floor. He's got to get it together, something isn't right.

Definitely time to let this guy go, or just accept this limitations and make the best out of it.
I'd say give him Landry Field's spot once he leaves, which is at the end of this year.

That one wasn't as risky as some. They'll try to force that pass with 3 defenders running the floor sometimes.

1) I think Rasual Butler blocked that shot. You're right. It was terrible.
2) Andre Miller (!!!) beat him off the dribble for a lay up. Smh.

I think the problem began with the 51 point night with both team and fans expectations that he was much better than he is. Some people can challenge themselves to become better and others wilt under the pressure. Even though he kept up the 3D for the balance of the season he fell apart in the play-offs and has never recovered defensively. His shooting has fallen off as well not badly but enough to magnify his defensive ineptitude. He hasn't progressed in one area this year and regressed in many.

I'm not condemning Ross but these are the simple facts while I never believed he would be a star I thought he could be a 1st rate 6th man with a great 3 and the ability to guard 3 positions. I think it is time that we move on from the experiment for both the teams sake and Ross's future.

It's tough to say what the market is for Ross. If Masai is willing to take back salary, I'm sure something good could be found. Otherwise, it's trade offers like Phoenix's Tyler Ennis for Ross offer that are likely floating around right now. Not all that great.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Yeah I wasn't even going to mention the Miller thing, its just too sad. Miller is older than me and I'm going grey... Ross is just going through the motions. Can someone light a fire under him? Demar is probably the best bet as he seems to be the guy on this team that has everyone's ear. If there are personal problems, maybe he needs to take a leave from the team for a while and get his head right. Or maybe the All Star break will help.

Also, a little tidbit from the pre-game warmup. Ross was being a bit of a douche to Hansbrough. Tyler was right in front of the Raps bench shooting corner threes, and Ross was being a 7 year old and chucking a ball and Tyler's ball in the air from near the hoop to bump them before they got to the rim. Then Ross came over to Tyler and appeared to be bragging about how to shoot the three, and neither of them were laughing... and then they both went about 1 for 4 from the same spot.

They're keeping him as a boogeyman for Bruno to make sure he keeps working.

I think at this point I'd just as soon hang onto him and hope the lightbulb goes off. Maybe visit a trade scenario in the off-season and look for a cheap-o 3&D wing.

I was at the game, and watched this play. T ross def could've caught that pass. I think T ross wanted to go for the corner 3 while Vas maybe thought Ross would be going towards the basket. The pass was very catchable. After they both got subbed out, Vasquez was fueming. Throwing away the towel and everything. He was very pissed when he got subbed out.

Ross said that Tyler was his best friend on the team at one point. Probably nothing, but it's funny how they're complete opposites on the court.

This is what bothers me about Ross. And it may be Ross, and it may be Casey's playcalling, but it's much more apparent with Ross than it is with other players when Ross sits.

I've been to about 10 games this year and been able to watch the team off the ball, instead of just seeing what the guys in the truck decide to focus on.

On offense, Ross jogs to the corner, and stands there for 20+ seconds while the Raptors run an offensive set, generally doesn't even really make a move for a rebound when a shot goes up, and then jogs back to set up on D.

There's no movement when he's on offense. Yes, I get the whole thing about spacing, etc., but at least try to move around a little bit to ensure there's always an open passing lane between you and the ball handler. Use a screen or two. Someone should sit Ross down and show him some footage of Reggie Miller -- another 6'7" scrawny little shooting guard with a sweet jumper. Reggie moved off the ball and used screens as well as any player ever has. Ross could learn a thing or two.

And yes, I acknowledge that part of the blame lies in Casey + staff's offensive sets, but in comparison, none of the other wing players are that static on offense when they're on the floor.

So at least part of the blame for Ross not getting touches lies w/ Ross.
