That sux, I’ve worked 3.2 hours this week and got a hole in one yesterday. Life may be slowing down over the next few weeks, hopefully for you too.

I work at York and Ryerson. They both sent out emails today saying they have no plans to shut down any time soon. FML. Literally not a single person would complain if universities shut down. Students, faculty, and support staff would all welcome it. And since these aren't for-profit businesses, they have no reason to keep operating.

Unbelievable. Schools have to be one of the worst places to keep open. They're trying to kill us all. :nonono:

Yeah I study at York. Got the same email. I need the grades so I'm going but yeah, they are being reckless with our health.

Schools Kinda have their hands tied. They can't keep millions of students home unless there are extreme circumstances. Having that many children off school would mean millions of people wouldn't be able to go to work. They probably won't start closing schools in Canada until students and/or teachers begin testing positive for coronavirus. At which point it will already be too late. It's a lose / lose scenario.

I work for a school board in the GTA and there are absolutely no plans whatsoever. The moment govt puts us in a state of emergency then there would be no school.

Sad thing is you can almost guarantee people in Toronto have it after the Jazz game and bringing it to a charity bowling event. People touched the bowling balls. Our numbers are about to increase drastically.

That makes sense when you're talking about children, who go to public schools, who so far, aren't at as high of risk but Uni is full of older students too. I'm in my 30's. I've had classmates who were in their 60's/70's too.

I have a fairly good immune system, ear healthy & workout, so I'm most likely okay.

It just seems weird that everything is just business as usual here, when people in downtown Toronto are being quarantined as we speak.

Edit; And theirs also the risk of bringing the virus into your home from Uni. Even if you have a healthy immune system.

My sister contracted Malaria years ago and her immune system isn't the strongest and my Mother is around the 65 year ago risk bracket.

Everything just seems disorganized when it comes to spread the virus.

Yes i am also a teacher. Currently supplying for the Durham Catholic school board so I see thousands of different students and hundreds of different teachers per week. And from talk I've heard in various school staff rooms, a good 90% of the teachers will be travelling abroad during March break. The only precautions I've heard about is an email telling teachers to self isolate if they go to any places designated as "hot zones". It's kinda dumb. But meh, what can we do? Schools are designated as an essential public service institution much like hospitals and police stations and fire stations. We can't very well shut down police stations. Can you imagine the chaos? No, schools will continue operating as though its business as usual until people actually start dropping dead in classrooms.

The difference is there aren't hundreds or thousands of police officers or firefighters in one station.

OG is not excited about having to put KD on a leash and reverse dunking on his head. He only gets excited about Scarves.

My idea of it being ok. It's gonna spread, I'm quite sure more than the 100+ has it now, they're just not going to the hospital to be added to the official count.

It’s not just old people that need to be careful, a lot of these old people live with younger people that attend school or go to work, those people can bring the virus home. Apparently kids barely even show symptoms.

Also middle aged people who aren’t in the best shape have a higher than average mortality rate as well.

The last thing I’d want to do is get my parents or grandparents sick so I’m definitely going to avoid going out to crowded places.
We the Champs
