I enjoyed this article about Precious' ups and downs, and his surprising effectiveness as a rim protector given he doesn't block shots at an elite rate (basically leveraging his athleticism in other ways).

https://www.raptorsrepublic.com/2021/11/29/what-should-we-make-of-precious-achiuwa/

Pretty strong impact defensively on the team overall, and at 22, I think it's worth being patient with him for the rest of his game.

He's built like a traditional 4 but for the sake of the team he'll need to cement himself as a bonafide C. Best case scenario is current Al Horford IMO but with the ability to start the fast break.

Glad I was wrong. His defence is sorely missed and he still has tools to be an above average offensive player. Hope to see him pushing the ball after a rebound leading to positive outputs, if not just for the sake of keeping the pace up.

To small for a center. Put him on steroids :D

6.6 rebounds? For a center? Misery...

By about the 40 game mark, you should have a good baseline for Achiuwa's future with the team. at times I've seen improvement. But if he's playing like this at this point next season, you need to cut bait. Sub 40% FG is horrendous for a C.

When Precious receives a nice dish inside and goes up in traffic, I now expect him to get blocked at the rim. So many plays are like, in my head I think, there's 2 points, then suddenly it's not 2 after all. Other 6'8 guys with strong bodies seem to go up and dunk over people in those situations, he can't. And he doesn't have the finesse touch to make layups either when contested.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I had high hopes thinking he might be a better version of Ibaka for us but he's got a long way to go. He is tunnel visionrd and doesn't have the good team first qualities that I hoped he had. He looks off others and tries to get his more often than not and goes at multiple defenders instead of getting the board and kicking it out. Lots of learning to do I hope Masai can speak with him.

Again, only 22 so I'll give him that but some traits are natural.

its not his fault, hes not ready for this playing time and we run 3 guys who should be ideally playing the 4 for a majority of these games.

We have him locked in a rookie contrCr for the next 3 years and he is already out-performing his contract by ALOT. Where else are we gonna find someone to equal his CURRENT contribution for around 4 million (AAv) per year for the next 3 years? And even that would be assuming he does not improve in any way. Which is extremely unlikely.

Yah....cut bait on what is already an extremely below market value contract smh.

I like Precious, but I don't see him as a starting C. I actually see him more as a back up PF/C that can replace Boucher after this season. Masai and Bobby need to find our next starting C; ideally someone who can provide what Marc Gasol can provide (play defense, playmake, and hit the occasional 3).

Precious just needs to play his role and not force anything. If he does that he's fine.

Right now he feels like mini Poeltl. It might take him a few years like Jakob. Though he lacks in height he has ball-handling and 3pt potential.

Precious has been one of the best defensive bigs in the league and nobody knows it, except Nick Nurse.

That boy can play D but i feel like developing precious to be an inside scorer might be a longshot, he might have a shot at being a decent pick and roll player but on offense i think we need to mold him into a stretch big that can take bigs off the bounce and just rebound and set screens.

I think Precious would succeed more in Siakams position. Our starting lineup isn't optimized for everyone's strengths. Fred is more of a SG. We can make Scottie into a makeshift PG but I really think he's more of 3 or 4 with amazing passing. So now you have Trent and FVV who are basically SG's and Siakam, OG and Precious who are SF/PF

Feels like people are too hard on his failures, but don't bring up when he does well to me!
When I was at the Raps v Celtics game a raps fan was heckling him after he missed a 3, "you can't even hit a layup, why are you shooting a 3"

But like he had just scored 17 in the 3rd Q v Memphis?

Sad (bald old) man!

Yeah he has looked much better lately in the smaller role. Starting to look like a guy you actually want on the court sometimes again.
