hopefully the time on the bench watching the team and seeing what we need has gotten through to him and he can see the value in just going out and fighting for rebounds ala Reggie Evans. The rest of his game can come later but if he just did that he'd could find mins.

We also have to realize how long he's been out of shape.

The heart condition is one thing, but remember he came into Summer League out of shape because before that he was out with (i believe) a shoulder injury. So he's been out of shape for close to 6 months.

I hope Jawai is truly good to go. It would be a shame if the Raps were just pushing him to play.

He's been doing some basic stuff I understand, but because of team/doctor instructions he's been doing nowhere near the conditioning needed for a guy of his size to play competitive basketball. If he somehow gets 5mpg, that's probably about all he'll be able to play- and even that will have to be in bursts!

Nathan is just about the nicest kid you could meet, he's very quiet and exceptionally polite- he's the anti-prototypical NBA baller.

Why wouldn't we? CLEARED means he's going to play.

Let's compare his stats to Roy Hibbert.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Happy for Jawai, but man do we ever love our scrubs!! I hope he proves me wrong but how on earth is this guy going to have a career in the NBA anyway?

Considering we have a 14 man roster, 9th player to come off the bench sounds about right.

Great for Nathan that he is healthy.

But let's get real... he was a second round pick, was signed to a contract because only a rookie as the 13th player would keep us under the lux tax, and he hasn't played in about three months, and was husky to begin with.

"I hope Jawai is truly good to go. It would be a shame if the Raps were just pushing him to play."

Pushing him?

I think they did the exact opposite of that. Jawai has been through a series of tests and seen some of the best doctors in North America. You can bet the players association weren't going to let him play with a bad heart either. Everybody was being extra cautious.

In this situation I give kudos to the Toronto Raptors for spotting this potential problem in the first place. There is only so much a team can do before drafting a player and especially one coming from overseas. I was surprised his heart concerns weren't discovered or known about in Australia beforehand.

I hope it is all water under the bridge now. Here's to Nathan Jawai starting his NBA career with confidence knowing that he is healthy and ready to go. GoraptorS
