Re: Fan Interference
I would do same thing that fan did but only if I was in ACC and it if was clearly going out of bounds.

Re: Fan Interference
If Milwaukee can buy tickets for people to watch their games, then surely MLSE can afford to buy courtside tickets for some bouncers to do **** like this for the Raptors at the ACC.

Re: Fan Interference
It's one thing, if the fan is just sitting there and he goes to catch the ball, but it's another thing if he stands up and reaches for it, when there's a play to be made... and in this case, it should have been Raptors ball out of bounds!
The thing that really pissed me off about this was that the Lakers were getting all the calls in the 4th, for example, Bosh's phantom foul on Kobe, he didn't even touch him.

Jose should have bulled him over, but he actually avoided contact.

Re: Fan Interference
Maybe if the NBA didn't let teams have fans sit ridiculously close to the court we wouldn't have fan interference. Players barely have enough space to inbound the ball from the sideline without pressing their butts into some (un)lucky fan's face.
Anyway, the rotation was a bigger factor than fan interference. Jack was kept out of the game too long, and Calderon's missed J's could have been partly because he was kept on the floor for the final 13 minutes. Should have put Jack back in a couple of minutes earlier and given Calderon a breather before finishing the game with him.

Jose should have backhanded that biatch, and then kicked Maroon 5/10 in the head for good measure

Re: Fan Interference
Was the fan an ass? Sure. Does he have the right to be an ass in that situation? Yes.
If any of you watch baseball, you should understand that once that ball is off the court (field, in baseball), even if it's still a live ball, the fans have a right to try and catch the ball, just as they have the right to not get out of the way if a player jumps at them going for the ball.
I'm pretty sure the rule is that fan interference = stepping / reaching on to the court. And it should stay that way. Otherwise, the line between intefering and not is too arbitrary.

Re: Fan Interference
even if they charged a technical foul on the home team, we still lose by one because kobe hit his shot. what should really grind our gears are the insane fouls called against us when kobe was driving to the hoop during the fourth quarter. if that's not a clear and blatant form of favoritism then i don't know what is...

I still can't believe that call. I want to laugh hard about it but at the same time set fire to LA. Jose should have socked the guy.

Officiating was very inconsistent throughout the game. Lakers were getting called with many "light" calls in the 1st Q... I'd assume this would be fallout from their previous game with Orlando. I see why the refs would want to begin the game tightening things up. However, as the game progressed (especially 3rd Q), some calls were just plain bs. There were some stern calls where good defense < Kobe (legitimately or not).

Googled "NBA rule book":
Section II-Ball
a. The ball is out-of-bounds when it touches a player who is out-of-bounds or any other person, the floor, or any object on, above or outside of a boundary or the supports or back of the backboard.
However, I couldn't find any clear statement on fan interference. However, another rule states that the first row of seats is officially "the stands", so likely the NBA rules do not preclude a fan from touching the ball when it is in the stands.

I think it would be easy to adjust the rule to cover fans actually leaving their seats in order to interfere with the ball or with a player. This wasn't a fan in his seat instinctively protecting himself when a ball was coming at him. He actually had to stand up out of his seat and reach so far over to the side that he was on one leg with his arm fully extended. It was pretty ridiculous.

Re: Fan Interference
shouldve been a jump ball. but what we should really be mad at this guy is for not taking jose out on that play. we couldve brought in sonny or wright and one of them mightve actually made a shot or not left a guy wide open on defence. we mightve won

by ur logic we should all go for the ball when the raptors play, wed have 180000/5 odds of getting it, i like that

a small interference like that could have been the difference in who won the game.
