sorry, fam. don't think it's happening. at least like we'd hope it'd be. probably end up drafting like 10th/11th in the end.

Yeah, unfortunately this is what I'm thinking. Too many winnable games from here on out. Masai is going to have to actively start trading players now. But I worry we'll be treading water enough to convince him to stand pat.

Not sure I would celebrate, as Ind is 2-8 in last 10 and they might decide to shutdown Hali and tank
There was a few teams around that .500 mark about 8 games back that I said bared some watching (Indiana, OKC, Utah) -- Indiana was the I one identified as biggest threat and they still are the biggest threat behind us in my view -- Haliburton is hoping to be back early February but now that Indy is falling I can see him not being rushed back.
OKC is always a threat (now down to 23-25) and still think Utah might pull it back hard at some point. But Utah at 25-25 is running out of time.

Well the good news is no more games against the Kings or Knicks from now on I believe. Players lifting their trade values hopefully. Even if the Raptors end up picking 9th I still have a good feeling.

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
I still have faith in the tank. Both Precious and Boucher played well tonight. Doesn’t happen consistently.
Ultimately depends on the direction that the FO takes in the next couple of weeks.
If the FO stands pat or makes short term upgrades, then yeah we can be in the play in.
Trade a starter or even Boucher for long term assets and this tank should continue.
At the minimum I expect some trade to cut salary for next year so we stay clear of the luxury tax if we try to resign both Fred and Gary.

We had the softest schedule in the league at some point. We have fake wins up the yinyang. You have no hope. Make your time.

Let's playin for 9th!

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
Luckily everyone else won
update
update
16 games until trade deadline including last night vs Charlotte. I guessed our record. I will update after each game.
(17-23)
Jan 10 - Charlotte - W (18-23)
Jan 12 - Charlotte - W (19-23)
Jan 14 - Atlanta - W .... Loss (19-24)
Jan 16 - @ NY - L .... Win (20-24)
Jan 17 - @ Milwaukee - L (20-25)
Jan 19 - @ Minnesota - L (20-26)
Jan 21 - Boston - L (20-27)
Jan 22 - NY - W (21-27)
Jan 25 - @ Sacramento - L ... Win (22-27)
Jan 27 - @ G.S. - L
Jan 28 - @ Portland - L
Jan 30 - @ Phoenix - L
Feb 1 - @ Utah - W
Feb 3 - @ Houston - W
Feb 5 - @ Memphis - L
Feb 8 - San Antonio - W
Feb 9 = Trade Deadline.
7-9 record as per above (24-32). But lets say we get 2 extra wins and go 9-7 instead, we would be (26-30).
To put things in perspective on Feb 9 of last year (deadline was Feb 10), our record was 30-23.

Team Mediocre definitely pitched a tent last night.
Let's trade GTJ for Poeltl so we can watch FVV and Siakam chuck up 50 shots combined a night. If it leads to Masai & co getting canned I guess I'm for it. This basketball product is trash.

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
Honestly, should have known yesterday was gonna be a win because Sabonis I feel never really goes off against us. Like I’m sure his numbers for his career are nice but he often looks a little ordinary imo.
With yesterdays win, all of a sudden this road trip looks like a cakewalk. Warriors will probably be a tough one, Jazz could go either way but I give us the edge. Blazers, rockets and suns (because of injuries) are trash.
There is a world where they come back from this road trip with a .500 record. Masai would then go all in on mediocrity/no man’s land at the deadline.
Those Knicks wins and yesterday really set us back. Knicks may have killed the Tank.

Meh, Still sitting in 6th. Plus TwO managed to get a Magic win and a Washington win.
I'd say it was a neutral night.

Going to be interesting between now and the deadline just with all the rumours. Don't think Masai/Bobby make a significant trade, maybe Trent for filler + pick if they think the price tag will be too much?

We are on pace for 25-31 with yesterday's win and guessing rest of schedule
POR game on a back to back. PHX got back CP3.
I wouldn't throw in the towel yet

You're a clown if you think you'll find better front offices than Masai and Bobby. The grass is definitely not greener on the other side.

Oh for sure, also February, even though the schedule lightens up a tad, it’s vs teams that are direct rivals either in the standings or the tank. So there is still a real shot at tanking. I’m fine with finishing 6 to 8 in the tank (ideally 6 obviously).

I agree, the only way Masai gets fired is if he kills somebody. lol

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
current situation reminds me of this mario party gif

where in this situation bobby/masai are luigi and all the other players zigging/zagging are the pro-tankers/retoolers/league insiders/etc freaking out about things expecting change. we all know the cliche of 3 strikes, right? well, this management will give this core a billion strikes before they'll act. they're simply committed to it and believe in it regardless of what we think.
the only way they'd probably do something is if they blanked the entire WC trip and even then they'd be asking for the moon. but if they got any glimmers of hope like we saw last night, that's all it takes to convince them to stay-the-course. and they figure if they bottom out, they'll be getting a high lottery pick anyway. so it's a win-win in their eyes.
they gave demar/lowry/casey tons of rope as well until it was truly untenable and they lucked into kawhi thanks to a confluence of many factors.
i think they simply believe that long-term patience will be the smart play in the future, and their two-track build will be a success. I'd much rather they pick a lane, mostly the younger one. but the biggest reason for urgency is whether they're comfortable paying all that money to this core based on the sub-par record. and perhaps they are comfortable regardless of the results this season.
