Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 3
The top 3 right now for me would be Holland, Sarr, and Castle measuring and testing well in workouts. I see Clingan and Topic dropping after the combine. They either have too many holes in their game to develop or the ceiling is too low.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 3
Topic is slightly bigger goran dragic, but possibly with Jose Calderon defence. Clingan is probably Walker Kessler, but probably not quite as elite a rim protector. He feels like a sure thing to be a top 15-25 Center. So, decent player but nothing more.
This draft is hard lol. Praying for sarr. While he probably won’t be a superstar, will probably be an impactful two way Center you can finish games with amd doesn’t have any major weaknesses.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 3
I know the draft is considered weak but there's always talent - it's the raptors job to draft & develop the right guys - 2013 had a lot of misses but also 2 likely hall of famers in Giannis (15) and Rudy (27), not to mention many solid players like Steve Adams, CJ McCollum etc. - so it's up to the team and their scouts/development team to make the smart decisions.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 3
Those of you looking for someone to replace Christian Koloko need to look no further than Ugonna Kingsley Onyenso from Kentucky by way of Nigeria.
A true giant of Africa who could be mistaken for the 4th Antetokounmpo brother, he stands 7 feet tall, weighs 250 pounds and has a 7-5 wingspan.
After arriving in the US in January 2022, he played for Putnam Science Academy during the second semester before averaging 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 18 minutes this season at Kentucky.
During a game in February of this year against Ole Miss, he recorded 10 blocks that he claims should have been one more during his post-presser interview, but he could be one of many high-risk, high-reward prospects who could be drafted much lower than his peers, yet ultimately outperform them after 2-3 more years of development.
"Per Sports-Reference.com, Onyenso's block percentage — a measure estimating the percentage of an opponent's two-point field-goal attempts blocked by a player while on the floor — of 15.9 in 2022-23 would have been the ninth-best season by a Division I player since the statistic started being tracked in 2009-10 had he played enough to qualify."

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 3
When you look at hybrid 3-4's or 2-3's or combo guards as free agents the pickings are slim. Then look at Centres. There are tons of them. Might think about using this draft to get bodies like Siakam, OG and Precious. I do not think we have the ability to play small. Nor the option.

He doesn't play the same style of basketball nor have the same skillset as Gasol or Ibaka. Given his abilities and the former Raptors players he could emulate, Koloko would be the closest.

I don't mind him as a UDFA flyer, but he lacks what Koloko lacks: the ability to finish efficiently around the basket when it's not a putback or lob/easy assist. It's so frustrating to watch big men like this repeatedly smoke lay-ups. If someone can convince him to momentarily give up his dreams of being a stretch 5 and focus on getting stronger and studying folks like if Gafford' or Capela instead, he has all the potential to play in the league.

How many undersized guards who can shoot but are average in athleticism have actually worked out well in the NBA? Not too many that I can think of but the G-League is full of those types of players.

Nobody will benefit more from Brunsons’s ascension than Reed.

he's a 6'3" PG with I'd say pretty decent athletiscm. Not undersized. Reed just knows how to play. Can run a pick and roll, can shoot from anywhere and has a high IQ. He's going to translate the question is 6th man or really good starter

Devin Carter with the IND pick is another player I like as a two way PG.

It's inconvenient for you and him that Green's career is longer than one month.

When he turns out being a bigger John Stockton, hopefully he's on our side.
6. Reed
17. Chomche
31. So many to choose from. Would it be crazy if DaSilva dropped to #31?

Grab McCain ASAP and don't look back. Or Reed Sheppard if you're a believer, can't decide on this guy. Otherwise grab Nique Clifford with 31.
McCain reminds me of Brunson but with some sniping skills. Absolutely the Jamie Jaquez of this draft.

What makes Buzelis better than Filipowski? Filipowski is the better shooter and has more size. Anything Buzelis needs to work on Filipowski could develop just as much.

I didn't watch Buzelis. But Flip at times, in some (not all) games I watched, looked like not involved/uninterested.
Perhaps it was just my perception, idk

I really like McCain as well. But I don't see him as a Jaime Jaquez type draft pick because the thing is, he only plays like a college veteran - but he's only a freshman! Jaquez was 22 entering this past year. McCain will only be 20.
But that's exactly the thing that stands out to me when I watch McCain. He just always looks like he knows what he's doing on the court. He's not a pure point guard, but I have no doubts about his ability to develop enough of those skills to be an excellent backup in the league.
And his shooting stroke is just so good and consistent that it'll definitely be a weapon at the next level. He's also fairly scrappy as a defender and everywhere on the court in general.
I think he's the 1st round PG least likely to bust because all of his good skills seem transferable and his weaknesses aren't serious enough to be dealbreakers.
