So many Canadians are watching the raptors right now. I saw NHL players that play on American teams posting about the raptors. Don Cherry must be as mad as skip bayless right now.

I couldn't watch this live because it was a big day for my family. We adopted a little girl in December and this was my wife's first Mother's day with her. I put some prep work into this one. Worked with the kids to make some paintings on canvas for their mom, got some pics developed & framed. Made lunch reservations at a good restaurant long in advance and afterwards we hit up a travelling dinosaur show called Jurassic Quest for the kids. It was truly a great day.

Got home, put the wife and kids to bed then went to the basement to watch this epic game. After the shot, I couldn't help but go down memory lane like a few of you did in this thread. I remember that 2001 series against Philly, it was just before I got married. Vince scored 50 on the night of my bachelor party which actually was in downtown T.O. It was an amazing night. Then after being deflated in that Game 7, I actually remember that I had hope because the team and VC were trending upwards, it felt like, it would be be better next year. Of course things didn't go as we all hoped they would.... its been a long and bumpy road.

When I got married 18 years ago in June 2001, I had lots of hope for that as well. You have hope for good careers, a nice house, a happy home and of course... kids. Things didn't go as we hoped in that arena. We tried for 10 years (on and off) to have kids. IVF, fertility drugs, ultrasounds, surgeries and a ton of stress. It didn't work out as planned. So we changed gears and focused on adoption and we got lucky in 2013 adopting a baby boy. We just got lucky again and adopted a little girl 5 months ago in December.
Just like everyone else's marriage, it's not easy, it's tough. But we persevered for 18 years and to have a day like today with my family of four was priceless. The long struggle just made me appreciate today all that much more and I am now truly content....

Kind of uncanny how it aligned with the Raptors big day as well, also 18 years in the making.

Still a bit hungover emotionally from last night.. Still in awe. After Butler made that layup to tie it, I just knew that Kawhi was gonna take us home.

On TSN and Sportsnet last night the Sports Center shows were almost 1 hour recaps of the Rpators game. On TSN
they actually brought in one of the old hockey analysts and they asked him about Kawhi and the Raps game and
then at the very asked him to briefly discuss the Canes vs. Bruins game.

On ESPN Sports Center this morning it's all Kawhi and the Raps game. They've showed the cover of the Toronto
and Philly Newspapers they played the game winning shot from different countries around the world including
the Quebec RDS/TSN broadcast. They've also shown the live feed of Jurassic Park when he hit the shot.

They've probably shown the Kawhi shot 15-20 times so far

I've never seen anything like this before

You know, looking at the overall picture, these past few years have really cemented our reputation as a winning team. We have been to the second round and ECF multiple times in the past decade. We've gotten over our reputation as the Craptors, and now it looks like our choker label is slowly fading away. Regardless of where this team goes in the future and what happens with Kawhi, an entire generation of kids grew up seeing the Raptors as a contender. Like the Vince Carter era before, we've built a base that we will benefit from as these kids become the next group of NBA fans and also NBA players entering the league.

Now, lets get a Finals berth to really cement it.

TNT didn't think the shot was going down. Look at their game clock

Let us not forget Ibaka. We don't win without him.

Thanks for sharing this, what an uplifting post to read. Kawhi certainly hit that shot for BOTH your kids, brother! Couldn’t be more proud of being a Raptors fan today.

Quite the sports day for me yesterday.

Man City win back to back EPL titles, in the toughest two-team race ever (98pts vs. Liverpool's 97pts). Then Kawhi/Raptors get their NBA renaissance moment. THE SHOT.

Still not over any of this.

That's what's great about sports. People don't need to fight wars. Let's settle it on the court. Reffing in the fourth almost provided the W to sixers. BUT THEY WERE NOT WORTHY!!! Sixers offense completely stalled in the last minutes. The last shot - it's ALREADY a legend. 50 years from now people will admire it as if it was yesterday. Bravos! Kawhi. This series he ALONE (on offense) dragged Raptors into the next round. A TRUE MAN.

........but, it's more like last an standing than the Raptors team beating sixers.

OK, there were 8, now 4. Bucks are a different animal. Even though in the real fantasy world a healthy deer has no chances whatsoever against a grown up Kawhi Raptor First, this flock from Milwaukee has their best buck bitten by the rabbid squirel and now they are giving him crazy amounts of ccocaina and meth. Siakam should guard Giannis, Raptors need 100% of Kawhi on the offense to have A CHANCE to advance.
Milwaukee has a new Arena, and that's their best sports team in the city. Fan base very strong and very involved. Wisconsin's economy is very healthy, so in crucial games for the raptors expect to see more Tony Brothers. I read that guy like an open book. I know how he will adjust to the developing game and will try to make himself look clueless and innocent while stabbing some team with a poisonous dagger.
BUT KING IN THE NORTH was killed, but the god of bball brought him back to life. Again, again, and again :)

My pick: Bucks in 4-6. Kawhi is Kawhi, Giannis is Giannis - it's all about other dudes around, coaches and $$$$$$$$$..........

Thank God for Kawhi.

Beat the Bucks?, Ka-why-not. He pretty much beat Philly by himself.

Some guy really called into 590 and said that in a week we’d be down 3-0 to Milwaukee and added that he wasn’t a fan of Lowry because he actually wanted to leave at the end of the last contract but came crying back when the market dried up. Idiots really love to call into radio stations

Return to Toronto Raptors
