I dislike McCaw, the player, as much as anyone here but he's not the reason we lost tonight.

But the 4 vs 5 thing is killer on a night when the team is struggling - even when he only gets 15 minutes. His defender sags off of him big time. He needs way too much space to get off a good shot - needs to be completely open. Really hurts as the nets can rotate easily to help.
Somehow he was second to Ibaka in plus minus with a 0 tonight!
defenders were sagging off RHJ and Boucher tonight, not nearly as much on pat.
Sagging off RHJ and Boucher? Maybe every game. But they, you know, get rebounds, put backs, make layups, post up a little. I bet their defenders don't sag when they are standing in the dunker's spot. Nice to compare these guys with a guard/sf (or whatever McCaw is).

Who knows man. If Matt Thomas is out there draining 3’s instead, we could have won.

That's soft man, you should dislike him as a person too.

Pat got a rebound putback layup this game... The fact is pat wasn't sagged off on and the other 2 were tonight, big part of the reason boucher couldn't stay on the floor and RHJ doesn't get run at the 3.

I'd agree but the thing is you don't really know. TD2 shot worse than McCaw but TD2 keeps his defenders' honest all of the time. Raptors were missing lots of shots, and while McCaw probably didn't kill them, you never know what kind of run the Raptors could get if they are playing 5 on 5 for McCaw's 15 minutes.

What's shocking to me is the amount of people on this board who refuse to even attempt to understand the roll he's filling. And then go on to totally dump on him as if he were not even human. Pat is my least favourite player of our rotation, but I feel like I have to say something for him, because people are going to extremes when they speak about him and most of it is just ill willed nonsense.

Let's also not diminish his assist, steal and other rebound that he also picked up.

hes our glue guy. as in he sniffs glue before each game and gets high AF and runs baseline to baseline at half speed and tries to do everything humanly possible to not draw attention to himself. just like a guy who's high but isn't suppose to be

TD played more and did less

We were not very good when McCaw was not playing tonight so I have a hard time making him much of a factor for the loss. Team effort.
More worried about close games in the future.... where a point here or there could really matter.

Yea. He's our least favorite and the worst rotation player on our awesome team. Doesn't mean you get to treat him like garbage.

Its pretty conclusive - McCaw is the most impactful player off the bench.

He is one of the worst players in the entire league according to advanced statistics.

As I've said before in this thread, I'm pretty sure McCaw himself even knows he's terrible and wonders why he's getting these minutes. His teammates certainly do judging by how they react whenever he miraculously hits a shot. It reminds me of how the starters react in NCAA when a walk-on scores.

K and what about the previous 30 games when he played like a$$ and still got 25 minutes?
He played his role fine in those games.
His role of providing zero offence and average defence. K gotcha.
Average is a stretch. The guy is one of the least physical players I've ever seen play in this league.

Re: Patrick McCaw is not a NBA caliber player
What's sad is, Nurse is going to intentionally blow playoff games this summer in order to play this bum 20 minutes in high leverage games. If he gets DNPCD's in the playoffs, then no problem, but he'll probably be off the bench before TD, sadly.
Masai really needed to trade him at the deadline. All we needed was an equally bad contract/player who Nurse didn't have a hard on for. Would have improved the team instantly.

But hes never the reason why we win so what's he doing out there?
If we had to do 3 stars for each game. He would have been in the conversation only once and that was the celtics game. Why so many minutes for a guy whose ceiling is so negligible?
