I think no doubt the NO package is more enticing than Memphis. The way I see it is the young players on NO have shown more upside and fit the type of basketball we are looking to play. The guys are Memphis are young and have had a chance to prove themselves on many occasions but have not stepped up. So trading with Memphis could blow up hard if guys like Zaire don't pan out. Versus Daniels and Murphy are both excellent fits. Ideally if OG can net Daniels, Murphy, Graham and a first that is a legit haul. If that were to happen I would not hesitate to flip Fred or Trent as well. Cause you have your future PG, SG in those two and actually add back some PG depth with Graham. Graham is a bit undersized, but not completely useless. However, if we can resign Fred to a reasonable contract I'm also down for a starting 5 of Fred, Daniels, Barnes, Pascal and Precious and with Murphy as our 6th man.
Two deals that will make our deadline:
OG and Birch for Graham, Daniels, Murphy, Hayes and future 1st.
Trent and Boucher for Reddish, Fournier, Hartenstein and a future first and future 2nd.
Flip Reddish to another team for 1 or 2 2nd round picks.
NEw line-up
Fred - Graham - Banton
Daniels - Murphy - Fournier
Barnes - Young - Harper
Siakam - Hartenstein
Precious - Hayes - Koloko
Daniels is a great defender and between him and Fred they can interchange running the point. They could also let Scottie or Pascal take over ball duties. Should we lose Fred in the summer, Daniels moves to the 1 spot and Murphy starts and we get Fournier to be our off the bench scorer, which he is still more than capable of. Fournier and Graham
Graham, Murphy, Fournier add back a ton of quality 3PT shooting for us. Fournier's contract sucks, but we are capped out so we rebalance some depth. Murphy can also play the 3 and some small ball 4 when needed.
Hartenstein gives us a reliable rebounder and defender who can step in when needed to occasional start.
I actually think this team ends up being better than our current team cause of the chemistry and balance. If we really think C is still an issue we could always see through with a Jakob deal to further shore up the 5 spot.
This would be a retool and not a rebuild.
I like your enthusiasm but not way you’re getting all of that for OG and Trent. Daniels himself was a lottery pick this year and he’s shown that he can be a starter in his rookie season. If I’m the Raps I’m pushing hard for Daniels, Trey Murphy and two protected firsts (Bucks and Pelicans picks). If they insist on keeping Daniels then we should push for Murphy, Nanji Marshall, the 24/25 Lakers pick and New Orleans or Lakers pick this year.
I want to keep Trent and would rather move Van Vleet, but I think the Knicks would probably say salary plus first for Trent. They have no need for Boucher and Hartenstein is a better fit if they could use him properly. I can’t see Cam as a throw in when they could probably get two Seconds or similar like the Wizards got for Hachimura. I like the approach of retooling with picks and young players instead of a full rebuild. Especially considering that we’ll have a lottery pick this year.
