The 31/32 pick interests me the most..I’m not sure why. KJ Simpson is someone I like there

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
WKU (vs. Marquette) only team I see in tourney with upset potential among #1 and #2 seed games. Vet team, big rebounding adv and get to FT line more, Kolek has been gone for a while, WKU team of outcast transfers from big time programs. Could be a perfect storm, uphill battle but there are real leans.
Morehead State small upset chance vs. Illinois, same with Colgate vs. Baylor, only two teams against 3 seeds with leans. Missi cannot pick up early fouls otherwise they're battle tested. Morehead more interesting spoiler.

Shoots 45% from 3 with NBA range as a junior. A/T of over 2.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
Risacher or Cody Williams and why?
At first thought Williams was abit overrated but the more you watch of him he has alot of elite tools+ moves smooth/good feel+ athleticism. Looks like he'll be really good one day even if it takes a few yrs.
Was initially really high on Risacher but now wondering if he'll ever be much of a creator. Is the shooting overrated? not a great FT shooter.

If given the choice between the two, Risacher. More athletic, more easy to immediately slot in to the starting 5 and more likely to contribute defensively now as opposed to Williams who might take some time. Zach might not be the best shooter but beyond the college line being shorter and therefore less reliable than the line Risacher has been shooting from, he's a willing shooter and that's something about Cody which bugs the hell out of me; his TS% is very deceptive since he's often passing up good shots to presumably keep his draft stock high.
Put another way, Zach is shooting an average of 3.2 3s per game whereas Cody is putting up 1.8. Often, he's taking a 3 per game or less.
If we somehow were asked to get one or the other plus an asset via moving down from, say, 4 to 6 to get our 2025 pick back from the Spurs? Then sure, Williams and pick control is something I can get behind.

The race for 6th worst is a cage match. It needs its own dedicated thread with top 6 draft prospects listed and as potential prizes for the Silver Chalice of Tanking. Free agents won't just sign with anyone but draftees? They do. Interesting that it is a battle between to two expansion franchises. Only way to get ahead when the league knows your not a provider.

I think for me I'm looking to get a guard and a wing with our 2 guaranteed picks. I'm going into this draft with the thought that pick conveys to the Spurs. If we don't I still want a guard and wing regardless plus BPA with a top 6 pick.

All of this and we might get screwed in the lottery and end up 7th or lower.

Very easily. Even at 6 odds aren't good to keep it

We have 3 winnable games left (win equity>25%) + whatever games where the other team has a stinker/ we run super hot.
2 vs Washington and 1 vs Brooklyn. If we actually lose out we could potentially move to 5th as Portland will probably win about 4 more games this year.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
With Ramsay signing and Agbaji trade, I could see Ryan Dunn as a player they would have interest in drafting. After trading OG, now they are trying to replace him. They'd be back to trying to teach guys how to shoot...although with Agbaji shot disappearing and Ramsay being a work in progress, maybe they never left.

Hoping for a couple of miraculous wins by the Blazers.

Indeed in all scenarios, it’s more likely than not that pick convey. Giving pick #7 to SA is still the most probable outcome. Therefore we need to be ready for that.
The advantage of conveying the pick would be to turn the page on the Poeltl trade, to retrieve some trade flexibility by unlocking our conditional picks that were protected for San Antonio and most importantly having the full control of where we will pick in draft 2025, a stronger draft.
Obviously I have been Team Tank since december. I hope the ping pong ball favours us.
While it’s more likely than not that pick convey, whether we finish 6th last or 7th last, there is still non insignificant odds that we can keep our picks. Even more true if we can leadfrogged Memphis.
Can we fast forward to Lottery? Can’t wait.

Desmond Bane is back with the Grizzlies. I see them definitely finishing better than us. Hopefully Portland can continue to at least play .400 ball.

I like the Ringer layout the best of all the sites. Unfortunately I find O’Connor to be the biggest click bait. It’s one thing to go against the grain. It’s another to troll readers. Maybe he’s just ahead of the curve, but I’m just not feeling it.
