The two threes looked real nice, hopefully he can continue to shoot like that.

Yeah, he very well could be one but it was way too early to write him off. Just turned 20 and has only one college season under his belt. Tools are there to be a solid player in this league.

I’ve said it before but the people who seem to want to tank are actually incapable of enduring it. They give up on prospects too soon and even when we trade two of our better players for young players and picks there is still complaining. They just cannot withstand a rebuild.

Rebuilds are not easy. You really have to be able to support your team and deal with the ups and downs. If people cannot do that then this team isn’t the one to cheer for.

Dick's ideal projection is a bench player

He doesn't fit the BBQ lineup, Barnes will end up needing to focus more energy on defense. The starter needed is a defensive wing stopper

at the end they were just hunting him every trip.. They always be hunting the white shooters.. Dick needs to get stronger so he isn't -1 on defense for sure..

Gradey has been able to hit the 3 in past couple game. This is massive for his confidence.
Hopefully he can build on that.
It’s incredible on harsh and quick we can write-off a 19 years old (now 20) because he was not able to shoot the 3’s on his 50 ish first NBA attempts.

FWIW I liked what Dick did on D to start. Him being an issue on defense right now is largely due to conditioning/size letting larger players bully him more than it is him being clueless on that end. He's decently long/tall for a wing but he's still only 20 and while I don't think he'll ever be All-Defensive 1st or anything, he could very easily become neutral or less of a liability on that end of the floor with time.

That's what a offseason is for.

Throw 10-15 lbs on the guy.

Look at Gordan Hayward. *Shrug*

He's still got time to turn us all into believers.

Last two games he's shown flashes of being a good player.

Can he be our Duncan Robinson?

If we had wemba and chet instead I'd be very patient with them. You picked literally the worst performing rookie to prove that tankers are not patient. (which isn't even true because people who criticize the FO aren't all tankers) If you ask anyone with access to stats, based off of draft position and performance who is most likely a bust, most people would say gradley. It has nothing to do with rather you wanted a tank or not.

and I never wrote dick off.

Like it or not Grady is our SG/SF of the future.

IQ
RJ
Grady
Scottie
Defensive stretch 5

Those 4 guys can mature into something very special if we find an elite center to go with them.
Yak is a really great stop gap. No shooting, but he's very solid defensively.

Why stop there? Let’s add Luka and Tatum to that lineup as well. That’s the beauty of dreaming. It doesn’t have to be realistic.

Great to see him be able to hit a couple wide open uncontested threes, however he was atrocious defensively and getting back in transition, like a deer in headlights

I’m a huge fan of Dick, but even I’m not sure he will be a starter with this BBQ.

But I could easily see him as part of a tight 8-man playoff rotation eventually.

He’s so much more than a shooter. His basketball iq is very high. He reads the game so well.

He still has a Ways to go. 2025-2026 is his third year and when I hope this team is a legit rising playoff team.

I don’t think so but it’s still too early to say.

Based on what I see now he can be a useful player hitting 3s.

However he still can’t put it on the floor or do much else. I guess one step at a time. The first step is he start knocking down open 3s.

At this stage I’ll be happy if he can give us 10ish points off the bench on high efficiency. More than that will be a bonus.

On the bright side this season is a wash so he’ll get more playing time in the next 3 months.

He’s 19 turning 20. He has all the tools outside of being physically developed. He has great height and length. He can read plays he has a nice passing game. He’s fairly athletic and can rebound. His limit will be his to work out and it will be determined by his work ethic to a large part. He reads the game well which is a great and that is the hardest thing to develop.
I wouldn’t be shocked when he hits 23/24 when you see a major jump.

Which happens to be when we'll need him.

I like how competitive he is even in a blowout. The Raptors are going to need more of that.
