If we can get him on a 5 year deal, that would be great. Cap's gonna jump, so he'll be on one of the best contracts mid way through (think he was looking for 5/125, tho that seems high right now, 5/100 would be great)

IQ seems to miss a lot of shots at the basket. Considering he's still putting up 18/6 in spite of that, potential is decent. Remember Lowry's first season with us was only ok.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Per 100 possessions, Scottie, IQ, and Barrett have 20.6 FGA each. Compare this to how the Nuggets play: per 100 possessions, Murray with 26, Jokic with 24 and MPJ with 19 FGA.
IQ needs to shoot more. He should have the highest FGA on this team, followed by Scottie. Darko has him emulating too much of a traditional PG role. The whole sell and why people were excited was because IQ would be able to play the scoring guard role while Scottie takes on more of a distribution role. We saw a bit of that last night when Darko had Scottie, Gradey and IQ out there, with Scottie handling a lot more and IQ running around more, he just wasn't hitting shots but we still won the minutes.
The only thing Darko has been saying about him is that he needs to shoot more 3s. Darko wants him to shoot a ton. He just hesitates on open shots and then when he's covered isn't crafty enough to get off shots. He has work to do this offseason

I would recommend not playing him at PG but there aren’t any others on the entire roster.

Not sure how you come to this conclusion - he gets really good looks, wide open ones, that he misses. Is he intimidated by Poeltl's big Austrian frame?
I can be very critical of Poeltl at times but come on man, this is a definite reach.

It's painful at times now, but I love the fact that Darko keeps putting IQ in situations to learn, even if it means struggling through it.
It's clear from the reads that he makes that he's been in off-guard mode for his entire professional career.
I think he'll figure it out. If he maintains his career shooting efficiency while doing so, this trade is going to age very well.

His floater % is higher with Hartenstein time in NY. It matches but may be just coincidence.

As compared to who, Mitchell Robinson?
Comparing Haternstein vs Poeltl to show some correlation makes little sense when the change in team, system, and role most assuredly carry a larger weight. If you can isolate that, in the same team and system the choice at C still made a noticeable difference, then we can discuss this.

That SEEMS low to me somehow, like in a toally uneducated way, but Austin Reaves went for 4 years/54 million. So maybe its even closer to that level.

He only seems to want to shoot when he's completely open and that mucks the offense up. Someone's gotta remind him he's got a 6"9 wingspan so should be more confident taking shots. Theres no reason VanVleet with his small arms should be more confident shooting contested shots than he is.

I'm surprised to see IQ floater % better than maxey
Which is crazy, because Maxey shoots 100% on floaters against the Raptors. Is he just tossing up bricks against every other team?

The thing is, his release is low and its almost like he's pushing the shot so he needs more time and space than most guards to shoot it IMO. Maybe he can work on getting into his shot quicker in the offseason.

Pretty difficult to judge any player coming into this team this season. How many practices has IQ even participated in since he got traded?

He was at the top of the league before he came to Toronto I believe, so his numbers must have plummeted since joining the Raptors which matches eye test.

Then there was the fact both IQ and RJ spent essentially 2 straight months on the road. I can't remember the exact numbers but it was like 54 of 65 days or something. The Knicks played 11 of 14 games in December on the road then they were traded and played January 1st in Toronto followed by 13 of 18 games on the road from January 3-February 7th.
That is a difficult stretch.

Re: Official Immanuel Quickley Thread
I’m hoping IQ and RJ managed to chill for 5 days in one place over the break. They were on a tough stretch of travel.
I think IQ is better than what he’s shown.
Looking forward to the last 27 games.

Re: Official Immanuel Quickley Thread
Darko talked about adapting to playmaking and hinted at seeing different players in his new role in Toronto, but I am happy that IQ is honest about how he now has to deal with teams zeroing in on him as a starter:
Really, he has the quickness and enough strength to be a lead guard, but he has to break through that wall to prove he is a starter. He needs to be at least a 20 PPG and 7-8 assists like Fred VanVleet otherwise we need to pivot to a different option. Even with teams like Dallas where they have Luka who is the lead handler 80% of the time, they still need a PG in Kyrie who is a 25+ ppg scorer.
I hope IQ will work during this last portion of the season to prove he is a starter. He just has to get into his offense earlier.

Re: Official Immanuel Quickley Thread
Biggest goal right now these next 25 games is for IQ to grow and become more comfortable as the lead guard. The synergy between him and Scottie should also develop more.
