CMB I wasn't excited about at the draft, but I am now. He's got that Kawhi-lite vibe to his game. It's impressive, and can actually help a team win.

Yeah. That's the way I saw things too. I didn't want CMB, but I am happy we drafted him now. He is a winning player.

Those were nice highlights of Queen, but we have seen players like this before. Big men need to do big men things in order to win (defense).

Maybe he gets there, who knows......but until then I am kinda skeptical.

I do like Coward, but I am not sure he has the upside that CMB does.

Queen seems to be in the mold of Jokic/Sengun. Obviously I dont expect him to get to Jokic's level but being near Sengun seems very realistic. He just needs to be paired with a defensive PF like Gordon/Barnes/Draymond.

Sengun isn't an awful comparison for upside I suppose - I was thinking more Demarcus Cousins before the draft, but being more likely in the Jared Sullinger range.

I don't think it's as easy as being paired with another guy. He needs to become an absolutely elite offensive player to the point where his defensive shortcomings are overwhelmed and he also needs to commit to conditioning and becoming a heady player who thinks the game rather than just aims to overpower guys so he conserves his energy and is at least functional on defense.

The real trick with Queen will be if he can show he's able to improve and change his game rather than intuitively pushing to his spots. He's still obviously an NBA player but he's got a bit of a tough path ahead. I'm much happier with CMB than him. The Hornets when with offensive volume scorers over defense and efficiency and it shows in their record. One singular defender isn't going to fix this. They basically need an entire roster of gritty multi-tool defenders around Queen and Fears, but the problem for them is that teams have suddenly realized the value of those players and winning teams are absolutely loaded with them.

Coward probably has more upside than CMB. Already shown 3 level scoring on high efficiency with elite rebounding for his position and decent playmaking.

Potential is a tricky word. Coward definitely has some skills but I'm not sure his potential is any higher than Gradey or Walter. It helps his stats that he's on a team that isn't able to prioritize his focus on defense right now. That said, it doesn't mean he won't figure that stuff out either, so the potential is there. But it's absolutely there with CMB too and then some.

I welcome aboard all CMB converties.
