Official Scottie Barnes Thread

His stretch in the 3rd really was special. Short bursts like that are going to stretch out longer until its full quarters, halves and entire games.

His defense does need a lot of work though. He's getting by on energy and his physical tools but he needs a lot of refinement and reps on that end. I think he'll be a lot better by season's end.

There is a huge difference between him and OG defensively. OG is a defensive savant, he plays the angles and passing lanes absolutely perfectly. Scottie plays like the biggest most athletic high school kid. It's getting him by, but once he learns the game (and he will) he'll be a monster on that end too

I din't hate the pick like so many....but i was expecting solid defense with alot of rookie mistakes on offense. If anything....its been the opposite of that. And none of the defensive miscues are the type that cause for concern. He's gonna learn VERY FAST.

Barnes is making mistakes, but he's already elite defensively IMO.

He's had more defensive responsibility than most of the rookie class combined at this point.

3 weeks in he's already been tasked with Doncic, Harden, Demar, Tatum, Durant, Mobley, Sabonis, Beal...

last night I took Scottie Barnes on the over at 13.5 points.

tonight they have adjusted his over to 14.5 points, and the odds are -130 instead of +125.

still riding the over tonight.

I don't know what the numbers are, but what I'm seeing from Barnes is a lot of instinct, length & athleticism. His footwork & sliding aren't at the same level yet, he's not able to apply on-ball pressure as well as OG.
