Maybe I am coming back full circle on Charles Lee. Maybe he is the one?

It would be very Raptors to just sign a coach that not even the bookies have odds for and it would have nothing to do with a European finals.

I like Charles Lee the most out of the NBA assistants we interviewed. Young and smart and well prepared for the challenge. Perfect for a developmental team.

It would but dont think Lee is on their radar. They are clearly going more euro with all 3 finalists having an international background. If they go young, It's Darko, who blows Lee's resume out of the water.

But if I was a betting man, it's going to be Sergio due to his experience, character/familiarity, and his systems on both ends.

Agree but it’s funny that this name pop up today

A week days ago we were under the impression that the three finalists were Fernandez, Scariolo, Darko. Then Atkinson came in plays. Then Jordi is out. And now this new name is popping.

Scariolo is likely the front runner but it’s a bit perplexing that we hear about him just today.

Likely due to him not getting on another team yet so people speculating. Might be a fit as an AC for us but not HC

Assuming the next HC will cost a bit less than NN, maybe there will be extra money to spend on AC jobs.

This is one heck of a covert operation they're running with this coaching search. Jordi is out now Charles Lee is back in the mix!

It’s crazy how many names have pop up in this never ending quest.

The only constant has been Sergio Scariolo and it’s why he is arguably the frontrunner

I am wondering if Stein is an aggregator of rumours on social medias plus inside knowledge. There is a post about Lee and the next day Lee is added in his update. There is information on Italian’s news and then it’s added. Smith is reporting that Jordi is out, then he is out.

Anyhow I guess the updated list of Candidate is % of probability are now

Scariolo - Favourite
Atkinson - Runner up
Rajakovic - Dark Horse
Lee - Wild card

I understand that Lee was a strong candidate but he was close to being hired in Detroit until they aggressively chased Monty when he became available.

It does sound weird to think that Lee might have preferred Detroit over Toronto, but maybe it was more likely they were closer to getting a deal done.

I don't know but Lee is more of a player development coach versus Scarliolo or Atkinson. It is interesting to see where this group lands. Lee is a little on the soft side to me, but maybe they want a connector rather than a tactician.

Masai exhibiting signs the Raptors President job isn't his main focus. Seen it before, but its far more prevalent these days. Can't juggle everything at once.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Raptors want both a tactician and a player development guy .. aka a coach willing to play a deep bench and give a chance to young players. We aren't going backwards and hiring just a Casey who failed repeatedly in the playoffs.

I thought Jordi was pretty intriguing but he hasn't been hired anywhere else this year and he barely has any head coaching experience. Just two years in the D-League nearly 10 years ago. For some reason I thought he had way more head coaching experience.

I heavily doubt it ends up being Charles Lee considering he has zero previous professional head coaching experience. Casey and Nurse both had previous pro HC experience before joining the Raptors. I always viewed Masai not firing Casey in 2015 as a head coaching decision itself, and at the time Casey already had 11 years of pro HC experience under his belt. Nurse when he was promoted in 2018 already had 20 years of pro HC experience.

Among the reported finalists, Scariolo has 25 years of pro HC experience, Darko Rajakovic has 5, Kenny Atkinson has 4, and Charles Lee has none. Even Jordi who seemed to be in the mix for a while has 2 years of pro HC experience.

Raptors Coaching Search is the new Melo-Drama

Always interesting to see how folks on here get so ancy about how "long" it takes Masai to pull off moves, when what cemented him as a top exec involved one of the longest player personnel transitions ever. The Melo-Drama is recapped here nicely:

Just enjoy the ride folks!

Atkinson is my pick

Problem with Sergio is still part of the old champion mindset which will favour keeping FVV and Siakam. The future is in Barnes and entire ship needs to steer in a new direction, not hanging to the old
