If I am not mistaken if Gradey hit his next 3, his 3 pt shooting will be over 30%. Psychologically this would be massive for his confidence IMO.

Must be hard for a shooter to see his 3 pt% below 30%

I did not do the calculation therefore I could be off but considering his overall low sample and the fact he is pretty close to 30% after NYK game, I am fairly confident that if he hit his next shot, his 3 pts % will go above 30%.

Obviously he might also miss a couple back to back but my point is that if he continue hitting the 3, his 3 pts might skyrocket quickly .

Let’s face he barely played. Therefore his stats has yet to normalize. We should see a positive regression.

He shot like 44.5% in HS than 40% at Kansas and 85.4% from the FT line. He's been an elite shooter his whole life I'd like to think it hasnt gone away lmao

Agree.

I know Siakam is not a great 3 pt shooters but he is an all star player. If even Siakam could lose his confidence and shoot below 20%, a rookie that try to make the NBA with his 3 point shooting and the pressure after having a couple bad games in a row, it’s no wonders his confidence was temporary shattered.

If he can get up and have a good stretch, this would be massive for him.

When you know you can rebound it’s easier to go back up more quickly next time you hit a cold stretch.

I am a huge hockey fan. I like to compare a goalie with a 3 pt shooter specialist.

I always say that I will keep judgment before a goalie hit 25 and hit a massive cold stretch and was able to rebound stronger.

The mental must be key for a 3 pts shooter. Same for a goalie.

I think shooters don't forget how to shoot but Gradey did take a confidence hit coming to this men's league. I think the lack of opportunity to fail and limited success hurt his focus. I think he is showing some good resilience bouncing back in these low pressure situations.

One thing Gradey has to tap into is how he dealt with hostility from opposing fans saying awful things to him while playing Kansas. He has to channel that tough spirit and just believe in his special shooting talent.

I think they are going to move Gary and give Gradey his role for the rest of the season

Yeah Trent is who is he is at this point. A good spot up shooter that brings nothing else to the table. Which is fine but he's like a less athletic Terrence Ross. He'll be in the league for a another 5-7 years but he never developed the handle needed to be a starting player imo. Gradey might end up worst but I think his height and instincts make him have a higher ceiling.

well it depends on the return and what klutch told masai what they expect for gary's next deal.

we need multiple shooters with scottie so having both on the roster doesn't hurt. my guess is that we are 50/50 on gary, who's shooting is elite level right now. if we trade him, then that means the # klutch wants is not in line with what we would give him. if he's not traded, then it's probably a combo of subpar deals and maybe wanting to re-sign him.

I don't really think he was having a confidence issue. I think his lower body was too weak and fatigued when playing. He looks noticeably stronger and his legs look way more engaged when he's shooting these days.

Yep, that's the move. Same thing with Porter Jr and Boucher.

Get what they can for these assets while they can.

They just gotta keep giving him reps at this point.

Gary is a good shooter but are we really going to give him a raise on a longer deal or even his current $18M x ?
He doesn't do anything else out there. When he's not hitting he's a liability. Can't dribble, can't finish, defense is spotty

I'd be shocked if they don't deal him

He does the one thing semi-well, which does have value, but i'm sure the org expected more overall growth considering what they gave up to get him. if all he's gonna be is a one-dimensional piece then there's no lack of cheap scoring/shooting guards out there that can fill that role.

Look at what a guy like Lonnie Walker's doing at his price and compare with what Gary's doing for what he's paid.

Send him to the Lakers and be done with it.

Gradey will at least fit the mold of what Darko looks for with his players, on the offensive end at least. We know he's more of a WIP on the defensive end, but the whole team is at this point.

I think it’s quite possible that Dick will be better than current GTJ next season and I’d put money on this notion being true by midway through Gradey’s third season. He has a lot of size and bball IQ, can put the ball on the floor and make a play. He hustles. He recovers loose balls. Just has to get stronger and acclimate to NBA athleticism.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

Yeah there’s a noticeable size difference throughout his body. Looks more sturdy overall in how he moves. His shot is coming from his legs and not his arms/shoulders anymore.

And really, two 2nds is the most we can expect for Gary's expiring deal. He's not exactly Malik Monk. Or even Norm Powell.

Yeah, Gradey looks like a real basketball player. He has a nose for the ball and moves around in a pretty agile way. Not sure his ball handling will mature that much but with his length and shooting he only needs 1-2 dribbles to potentially get to the rim. Now, whether he actually attacks the rim like he wants to shoot layups, that'll be what separates him from Gary. Gary has always been petrified of contact or going into help defence. So far, Gradey does tend to pull up to pass sooner than I'd like at times but that promotes good ball movement. When Gary does something like that he isn't typically whipping a quick pass out of it he's contemplating taking a step back, floater or stopping his dribble and pivoting until he has to pass.

15 more pounds, a better handle, and a better haircut would make him one of our best rotation players.
