His lingering knee issue is a little concerning.

That’s interesting. I wonder if he is going to be as open about possibly coming off the bench in the next year or two as his fav player. That few has been floated by posters here, but usually from a negative perspective that he isn’t good enough to start.

showing some page 1 love to RJ. I thought he played really well last night given some nagging injuries. very solid passing and assertiveness with high-percentage drives

With his hard drives and relishing contact, he really needs to work on this as a weapon.

It was 83% on the Knicks this season which made it seem like he might have turned the corner but it seems to just be regression to the norm and now he's back at 73% on the year which is right around his career average.

he's been better than expected but I hope he can take a step next season. He really has the chance to be an all around good NBA player who averages 20+

I was pretty impressed with his toughness against the Pacers. Didn't get bullied more than an average 4 does by Siakam and he took an elbow from Turner and wasn't fazed at all and immediately made a couple of plays after.

We might be able to survive with him at the 4 for the 10-12 minutes a game Barnes is off the court.

First it was labelled the OG trade. Then people started calling it the Quickley trade. RJ was the tax. Are we sure it won't eventually turn into the RJ trade?

In 5 year's time, it'll be the (generational superstar we draft at 31) trade

To me it looks like he rushes his free throws. I feel like he would benefit from taking a little more time, maybe adopt the giannis routine lol

I really like Barrets game and mindset. He has surprised me. Happy he is a rap.

He may not have to come off the bench eventually. He's only 23. Still has room to grow. We shall see. All I know is he's a pretty solid player who I believe can help this franchise win

I used to love Maggette's physicality, a literal battering ram driving right into defenders and drawing fouls like RJ does. Corey even was a Duke kid and the same type of physical specimen as RJ. He was just empty calories in the end because he had a negative DBPM and was a non-shooter or passer.

Not sure how you fix RJ's game but he needs an overhaul on the shot and reading the game.
Good comparison. Maggette was solid for a few years. I think Barrett will have a better career, but I agree

Interesting, because that type of Manu role on the team might be perfect for him. Starter level scorer coming off the bench, to give the team quality minutes when Barnes and IQ need some rest. Coming off the bench doesn't mean he can't be on the floor at the end of games, if needed.

Would also make more sense, if they were eventually trying to find a way to get Gradey in the starting lineup, as OA makes more sense beside Gradey in the starting lineup than RJ.

I've both made the same comparison and even suggested he model his game after Maggette or maybe derozan with the foul drawing.

Fun fact. RJ is averaging 4.5 APG his last 11 games(he has 6 so far vs Dallas), and he's only shot under 50% 3 times. We all know he can score and create for himself, but I feel like the coaching has challenged him to create for others.

His efficiency here would be off the charts if he was hitting his FT's. That alone is keeping it at just very good.

RJ went from focusing more on MR and doing better from the FT line with NYK to shooting more at the rim and in the paint and doing worse from the FT line. But yeah, nothing has changed in RJ's approach to the game. w/e

He's going to slowly work his way out from the rim. It's amazing to see his effort pay off from 3FGM but he'll develop from the paint out. Give it time.

He's been a real surprise in how consistently well he's played and generally making good decisions on the court. If he can keep up this level of play I think he's well worth his salary and a valuable starter.
