Poeltl can hit the NBA 3 in practice, so that doesn't mean anything. Would rather have a good defender that can't shoot that well but must have decent mechanics since that's more fixable than no motor or fire.
Wait what?
And Then There Was One: Thank Nation 2. Raps pick 23rd

I like guys with a good motor/defense, but Hartenstein's profile on DraftExpress seems to suggest his motor and defense is fine. It appears to be one of his strengths judging by his rebounding and shot blocking numbers.

Looking at their roster, I wouldn't be surprised if Portland would be interested in trading their pick for Poeltl. Might be worth considering, depending on who's available with that pick eg. Bridges, Hartenstein, Rabb. I know he wasn't an exciting pick at 9 and many of us wanted Masai to trade up for Chriss, who was easily attainable, but Poeltl is a pretty good asset to have. He was the best center available last year and could be better than any center this year as well.

They should just draft Bam Adebayo.

I've seen Bam. It depends on what they want in a center. Bam is a better athlete(39 inch vertical), but is shorter, has shorter arms, is no better a shot blocker, provides worse rebounding and worse shooting. I'm not calling Poeltl a star, but I think he's at least as good as Bam if not better as a prospect.

I think TJ Leaf is among the top players on my board currently, along with OG Anunoby and Bam Adebayo. I'd probably give Leaf the edge, too. Although, I can see Adebayo being a monster in Dwane's system, or at worst, another Biz.

Leaf looks like a slightly better Jason Smith. It's hard to get excited about him as a prospect. I'd rather take the risk on Harry Giles recovering some of that athleticism.

Leaf isn't an exciting pick and he's not someone I'm interested in, but personally I'd take him over Giles. It's not just that Giles suffered one severe injury. He's suffered ACL tears to both knees and also tore the MCL and meniscus in his left knee. His knees are shot. Even if he were to regain some of his athleticism, this is a guy who has spent a lot of time doing rehab and his skill level will be behind a lot of prospects from lack of time actually working on his game.
Leaf is kind of a boring pick, but we know he can play.
I'd take John Collins over both of them myself, but that's just me.

Leaf's passing is good. He's probably more of a Patrick Patterson do everything kind of guy you need.

That's what I meant when I said we know he can play. He has actual basketball skills already, though of course they'd still need to be further developed. Giles could be no more than a former athlete at this stage. I still like Collins more due to his rebounding and defensive potential(shot blocking), but I know Leaf isn't a bad pick.

Collins' wingspan may not be that great, so he may be a PF with no outside jumper. Collins could be like Ed Davis.

His wingspan looks fine. It isn't stopping him from blocking shots at a decent clip and finishing at the rim. Leaf's wingspan is only 6'11 for the record. I'll take the guy with better defensive potential more often than not, particularly with how crappy the Raps defense has been this year.
I'd be fine with either one however.

Like I said my mindset is still getting to 8th seed and drafting a stud with our pick ^_^

Not sure I'd do it, I think he's the best big man prospect we've had in years. He's kind of cut in the mold of Patman, he does everything well. Really high IQ player.

I don't disagree. Keeping Poeltl or trading him for another need depends on what the plan is regarding JV. If it's to keep him long term, then I'd trade Poeltl for a pick to grab Rabb without hesitation. If there's a wish to find a trade partner, then obviously Poeltl is a nice long term replacement.

I think quite a few of us would be thrilled if we finished 7th or 8th and got a pick in the teens.

Another thing I would do is trade Ross back to his hometown and get picks around 14-16 or take Melo from NY and Masai can sell Melo himself again come the offseason. Melo can't make this team any worst with all the ios we do anyways with Demar can he?

Yo Dennis Smith Jr. reminds me so much of Kyle Lowry.

Absolutely. He hasn't been playing that great lately though. His team isn't too deep...
