Curious what you guys think of the shady stuff between New York and OKC...

first it was trading 34 and 36 to NY and move up 2 spots to 32...I just thought that was a really strange move.

And now with so many years left on the deal, they buyout Kemba so he can go to New York.....OKC really helped New York a lot and no one is really talking about it

As crappy as it is for us, I like what Leon Rose has done in NY. That's a good team. Maybe not title contenders but a lot more respectable than they were before.

Buyouts in general are dumb, but OKC saves about $16M if I am understanding this correctly (NYC to pay $8M a year) and they are tanking hard so may as well.

Kemba is not good, so I'm not really fussed about minor transactions that are repaid with favours.

I do think the NBA's tampering and moratorium process is a joke, but not sure how to improve it. Of course these kinds of deals are going to be made.

The fact that Tony Bradley has signed with Chicago suggests that Khem Birch is waiting on the Raps.

Nah, I am still confident we are a better team than the Knicks if we stay healthy.

Not true, Presti was looking for suitors to move kemba but couldn't finde anyone, both of his knees are damaged. That says enough about kemba's value.

They have a way deeper team imo. But we're at different stages of team building. We're on the descent and they're working their way up.

started off strong; made some smart moves along the margins
this offseason not so sure; imo last season was an aberration for them and they acted as it was the real thing. they should have signed 1 years deals and stayed respectable and maybe sign a bigger free agent next summer; instead of tying up the cap for 3-4 years with randle extension coming up next year along with barrett and robinson.

He’s owed $36M this year. No chance he could negotiate a buyout including next year’s player option.

I am curious to know how much of that they agreed to.

Yep. Who knows the terms of Kemba's deal, but they just locked up Fournier (4*19M), Rose (3*14M), Noel (3*11M) and Burks (3*10M) for multiple years. That's ~50M tied up until the 2024/25 offseason. With Kemba probably getting at least 20M/year and Randle set up for a max or near-max extension, they're going to be capped out in no time.

Obviously they can make some moves to clear out space if needed, but I don't think Fournier/Rose/Burks will be very coveted pieces. Might have to attach some picks to those contracts (especially Fournier) if things go sideways.
