DeMar DeRozan and Jerryd Bayless form a formidable scoring duo in the backcourt as I believe they were the second highest scoring duo Post-ASB? Point is, great defense leads to a great offense. With Ed Davis and Jonas Val, you'll be getting stops whether that be shot blocking/rebounding leading to easy transition scoring opportunities.

Attention from the US comes abruptly usually, so one year a player (who should always be looking to lock up their future) signs when they need to. The next season, they could get some unexpected attention and their future turns elsewhere. It just happens, Euroleague players don't all expect to go to the NBA, in fact, it proves how humble most are.

Its common over there, if they want to play in the league and make some money, they force them into these deals. Teams are always willing to accept a buyout as they make some cash for themselves. Sounds like the condition of the buyout is he plays 1 more season over there. With the potential lockout and the fact he needs to learn English and get bigger, that isnt an issue for me. Helps our cap space, and tank potential for next yr.

People will hate now because most don't know who the guy is, what he can do, and what his potential is. Those that are aware of the guy and everything he's about will appreciate this pick and understand that we have a potentially very good starting C in the NBA for years to come.

Give it 2 years and those same people hating now will come around and have that same appreciation. He's got a great frame, great length, a nice BBIQ and best of all, a real desire to be a great player going forward... not to mention, the guys Lithuanian... they're crazy about basketball.... we won't have the same desire problems as we have with Bargnani. Great pickup.

Can someone update me on the JV buyout issue? Didn't he state that if the team wanted him to play he could work around it...details on how that would work out would be appreciated.

Thanks.

With the 5th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, the Toronto Raptors have selected Average Big Man

We are very happy to welcome Average Big Man to our team. We feel his average physical attributes and average skill level compliment our team perfectly. We know Average Big Man will have the work ethic to become Average instead of Subaverage.

Also, we are very upset the Spurs somehow got Kawhi Leonard while actually adding a draft pick. We think they are cheating.

I really hoped we could have somehow gotten back into the lottery to pickup this guy. Such good defensive IQ, but he's so limited on offense, regardless of how long he's been working on his 3 pointer. Would have fit perfect off the bench for us.

Jesus, did the Spurs get Bertrans at 42 too. OMG. That guy will be a classic "Crap, the Spurs have this Euro guy who hits 3s at 40%, I can't believe nobody else took him"... but I thought he'd go 29. Why are teams so freaking dumb???

Because the Spurs are an amazing organization.

And calling Valanciunas average is absolutely hilarious.

Brandon Knight, Kemba Walker, Leonard, Biyombo, these guys EPITOMIZE average.

It fits them perfectly.
