Who do you propose being dropped from the starting rotation then, when Scottie is back ?
RJ, Dick?

Ochai is doing well but he still profiles as a bench player, maybe a good one, but nevertheless a bench player. And the Raptors are undersized, and he's about the shortest guy out there beside the PG.

He has a lot more skill offensively than I thought. He seems like he can perhaps top out as an OG Anunoby or a poor man’s mikal bridges

He profiles as a pretty ideal 5th starter. Doesn't need the ball. Plays D, cuts and shoots 3 when he is open. Basically prototypical like KCP.

So yeah, I was completely wrong about this guy.

Good thing I hedged against myself and picked him up on my fantasy team.

if he does nothing more than what he's doing right now, he'll have a long career in this league.
we still need a very good player in the 3 position to start for us, but a bench of dick, agbaji, shead/mitchell, mogbo, battle will serve us pretty well. still need that backup 5 though.

He's on that OG development plan & succeeding at it.

I really like what I am seeing from him.

It appears that confidence was always the issue with him, not skill. Darko has done a good job figuring out how to draw that confidence out of him.

Like the poster above said......we desperately need size now. Size at the 3, 4 & 5.

Every game.I seem to be saying to myself, these guys are screwed if Yak is sitting or fouls out.

So an athletic PJ Tucker lite is still on the table. Not bad for the 29th pick in a weak draft which turned out to be Isiah Collier who most wouldn't take over Shead who was drafted 16 picks later at 45

I don’t think Agbaji has a bunch of untapped potential but he looks like he can be an athletic 3 and D which is always an asset

I think Darko will bring Dick off the bench.

Let's say we draft #2 and pick up Ace Bailey...
This is what I'd try next season:

Quickley/Mitchell
Ace/Dick
Barrett/Ochai
Barnes/Mogbo
Poeltl/Olynyk

Does Agbaji actually help the team win more than Barrett?

He's the better defender for sure.

Barrett likes to operate with the ball and is a solid playmaker - he can lead the second unit and still play 30+ minutes per game coming off the bench.

We need a 3&D guy in the starting lineup, and Ochai is that guy.

pingpongrac wrote:Never understood the hate Agbaji was getting last season. It seemed pretty obvious that he wasn't in a good position to succeed shortly after we acquired him as half of our rotation went down with injuries, but we had ~5 college + NBA seasons of him been a good defender that can score decently if he's not tasked at creating his own offence. Always seemed like a good fit on our current roster – almost like an OG-esque player – that can eventually contribute to winning and is especially valuable as the 5th option that defends well and primarily scores off of corner threes and timely cuts.

To be fair last year he was on the wrong side of what if.

"What if we could have got a better player than Agbaji with that pick?"

This year we are not asking that question.

The team will need some non-max players.
