As an Euro, disappointed, they put Buzelis on team world, even tho he is clearly an American, why not put him on American team and free up space for some interesting Euro to join? Are there just too many AMerican prospects compared to world prospects, they need to reach like that? Whatever, I will be interested in this.

Dort had shoulder surgery. I hope Murray, SGA and Brooks are able to play this summer along with Barrett. Along with some bigs who missed last summer.

But then I don't know what the schedule is this summer, and when we start looking at who's available to play.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

schedule is:
World Cup Qualifier Window 3 vs DR and USVI (possibly at home) very late June / early July. I expect a so/so NBA turn-out as guys nurse injuries and Free Agency.
World Cup Qualifier Window 4 vs VEN or ARG and Panama - not sure where yet. Late August / Early Sept. Should have a stronger NBA turnout as guys ramp up for the NBA season.
FIBA Americup - right after Window 4 in early Sept-mid Sept. I expect this is a lower NBA turnout with mostly "winter core" guys. But who knows if they are really serious about building chemistry and a true "summer core".

Anyone have a newer read on Leonard Miller and his NBA prospects? Or next steps?
What I've read is that he is eligible for this years' NBA draft and he is weighing the NCAA, G-League (Overtime Elite), overseas pros or the NBA Draft.

I don't have a great read on where he is as a 2022 NBA Draft pick. He is on no-one's Mock, but he certainly qualifies as "under the radar" and things can change quickly. The Nike Hoops Summit should shed some good light.

Some have told me he is not at all on NBA teams radars as a 2022 Draft pick others have told me has late first round potential as a domestic "draft and stash" and stick him in the G.

I've also seen mixed comments from prominent draft analysts like Givony and Schmidt. Givony commenting that he was not too impressed.

US ranking services are not up to date on Miller (dont think they have been updated for many months). On3 is the only one who has recently updated and they have him at #11 for 2022 Class. He is not even in Rivals Top 150 for 2022 nor 24/7 Top 150. ESPN doesn't rank players in Canada so I wont even look.

The insular and unreliable Canadian media that actually follow highschool prospects think he is the next great thing (of course).

Personally if I were him I wouldn't enter the draft this year, I'd go to college.

He's definitely an NBA prospect right now tho. He just doesn't have the body or the reps right now to be an NBA player and actually make an impact.

Toronto and GSW have already sent reps to watch him play this year so he is definitely on NBA teams radar.

Him and Elijah Fischer are the two best prospects right now excluding the college guys this year

I agree with DreamTeam that I'd rather see him go to college. Not yet physically ready for the NBA and also needs to clean up some bad habits, tighten the handle, and work on shooting form (the touch is very good, but the form, particularly the lower body, needs quite a bit of work). That said, he's a great talent and really shined in the OSBA finals, leading his team to the championship with about 30ppg and 10rpg over the 3-game weekend.

The Big Dance is right around the corner. Here is my summary of the season from a Canadian POV. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team, honorable mentions, and a bit of preview to the NCAA tournament:

hope you don't mind but this deserves its own thread. This thread has a little bit of a niche audience.

On another SMNT note - Phil Scrubb ended up signing with Obradoiro of Spain's ACB after getting the heck out of Russia. He joined Kassius Robertson and he brother Tommy - who I'm sure had a hand in this. Really cool to see 3 Canadians on one ACB team. Phil will come off the bench to start but there is a chance all three will start at some point. They will certainly be on the floor together.
Obradoiro needs some help at PG and the wings. Tommy and Kassius are among the league leaders in minutes this season.
No word on Kenny Chery or Kevin Pangos yet.

Didn't see any mention of Clayton Henry of New Mexico State. Any thoughts? I didn't realize he was from Calgary until mentioned during the radio play-by-play today.

Ye, there are more than 150 Canadians in the men's NCAA. Henry actually regressed a bit this year as a senior in both minutes and production. He's playing for a good New Mexico team but I don't see the upside or production that others on this list have had.

Was looking for a march madness thread but I guess we can talk about Edey and Mathurin here lol.

Seems like Perdue will get the easy win here, lets hope Arizona does too later today.

Nembhard with another great game. Could argue he's been the most important piece of this Gonzaga team so far.

Looking forward to watching Edey later this evening.

This year, or in yesterday's game? Would be interested to hear your argument.

Fair enough. Listening to the first game, aside from a couple of big shots, didn't seem like he was doing much with his minutes out there. Must be decent defensively at least.

So it looks like we don't have a major upcoming Canadian star but we appear to have a deep growing pool of solid talent. I think this will help us a lot in these qualifying tournaments for world cups and Olympics.

Canadians are too good for their own good, so much NBA talent who cant play in FIBA windows.
